Today: The Gnats will begin a four-game series with the Kannapolis Intimidators. Wet grounds postponed last night's game until Monday, when the two teams will play a doubleheader starting at 5:35 pm. The Gnats are a game and a half out of first place following an Augusta GreenJackets' loss last night.

Friday Night: Mark Cohoon threw the first nine-inning complete game shutout in the South Atlantic League this year in the Gnats' 6-0 win over Asheville. Cohoon struck out ten and walked one. He gave up just three hits, all by Tourists' SS Joey Wong. DH Pedro Zapata gave Savannah a 2-0 lead with a two-run double in the fifth, and the Gnats blew the game open with a four-run seventh inning.

Now Pitching: Collin McHugh will make his fifth start of the year, and his second in a row. On Tuesday, Cohoon gave up three runs, one earned in six innings against Asheville in his first start since May 6th. He struck out four and did not walk a batter. In his last five outings, McHugh owns a 1.57 ERA (4 ER/23 IP) with strong peripheral stats including a K/BB of 5.75 (23 K/4 BB) and 20 hits allowed for an opponents' batting average of .230 (20 H/87 AB). In his last outing against the Intimidators, he gave up one run on four hits in six innings, striking out seven without issuing a walk in a game the Gnats won 5-4 in 14 innings. Last year, McHugh was 8-2 with a 2.76 ERA in 75 innings for the Brooklyn Cyclones in the New York-Penn League. He struck out 79 and walked 21. The Mets drafted McHugh in the 18th round in 2008 out of Berry (GA) College.

Vs. Kannapolis: The Gnats are 2-2 against Kannapolis this year. Both of Savannah's wins against Kannapolis have come in extra-innings, in 13 and 14 inning contests. The Gnats and Intimidators will play 12 games over three series in Savannah, but the Gnats will not return the trip to Kannapolis in 2010. The Gnats and the Intimidators split their season series 2-2 last year. The last time the Gnats played 12 games in a season against Kannapolis was in 2007, when they were 5-7 against the Intimidators.

Four Still Magic: The Gnats are a perfect 13-0 at home when they score four runs or more. Savannah is 5-10 when they score three or fewer runs at Historic Grayson Stadium.

Sunday Fun Day: The Gnats have played just two Sunday home games, both in April when the team was 1-1. The Gnats are 1-4 on the road on Sunday.

Top Arms: Savannah's pitching staff leads the SAL in ERA (2.46), WHIP (1.11) and strikeouts (521). The Gnats' ERA is over half a run better than Rome's (3.06). Savannah has yielded the fewest runs (183), despite throwing the most innings (531.1). Lakewood, which has thrown the second-most innings, is 12.1 innings behind Savannah.

Hot: Juan Lagares rides a six game hitting streak over which time he is 9-for-23 (.391) with two doubles and three RBI... Jefry Marte is hitting .333 (13 H/39 AB in his last 10 games....Pedro Zapata has a five game hitting streak going over which time he is hitting .333 (6 H/18 AB) with a double and 2 RBI.

Not: Rafael Fernandez is 2-15 (.133) in his last four games and is hitting .147 (11-for-75) since returning from the disabled list on May 14. ... Alex Gregory is 3-for-16 (.188) in his last five games...Wilmer Flores is hitting .145 (10-for-69) since May 16th when his average peaked at .364/.418/.589 (AVG/OBP/SLG).
