Atlanta Gladiators News Release
The Gwinnett Gladiators moved back into a tie for first place in the ECHL's South Division last week with a 4-3 shootout win over the Greenville Road Warriors on Saturday night. Gwinnett currently has 54 points on the season and a 26-15-1-1 overall record on the season. Gwinnett went 1-3-0-0 for 2 points last week.
This week's Games:
Monday, 1/21: Game vs. Greenville - 12:30 p.m.
Greenville Preview: Gwinnett and Greenville each have 54 points on the season and share first overall in the ECHL's South Division. After Monday's matchup with the Road Warriors, Gwinnett will face Greenville just one more time in the regular season - March 30th - the final game of the year for both teams. Brandon Wong leads the Road Warriors in scoring this season with 46 points off of 20 goals and 26 assists. Steven Delisle has notched a team best +26 plus/minus rating and ranks first overall in the ECHL in that category.

Friday, 1/25: Game vs. Orlando - 7:35 p.m.
Orlando Preview: The Orlando Solar Bears are currently in fifth place in the ECHL's South Division with 38 points on the season. Orlando has won their last two games and have posted a 5-5-0-0 record over their last 10 outings. The Solar Bears are led in scoring by Matthew Sisca who has posted 29 points off of 8 goals and 21 assists.
Saturday, 1/26: Game vs. Idaho - 7:05 p.m.
Idaho Preview: The Gladiators face the Idaho for the first time since the 2004 Western Conference Finals. The Steelheads are currently in second place in the ECHL's Mountain Division with 53 points, 10 points back of the ECHL leading Alaska Aces. Idaho is 6-3-0-1 in their last 10 games. Austin Fyten leads Steelheads rookies in scoring with 34 points (11 goals, 23 assists) in 39 games this season. Defenseman Matt Case has notched a team best +22, plus/minus ranking.

Tuesday, January 15: South Carolina 3, Gwinnett 1 - L
The South Carolina Stingrays opened up a 3-0 lead on the Gwinnett Gladiators through two period periods and cruised to a 3-1 win on Tuesday night at the North Charleston Coliseum. Robbie Dee and Andrew Cherniwchan scored just 14 seconds apart for South Carolina in the first period to put the game out of reach. Jason Clark notched his first professional goal for the Gladiators lone marker in the loss.
Thursday, January 17: Greenville 5, Gwinnett 1 - L
The Gwinnett Gladiators dropped a 5-1 decision to the Greenville Road Warriors on Thursday night at the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville, SC. Brenton Cameron notched a hat trick for the Road Warriors to lead Greenville to the win. Doug Jones had the Gladiators only goal midway through the second period to cut the Greenville lead to 3-1 at that time.
Friday, January 18: Florida 3, Gwinnett 2 - L
"ªThe Gwinnett Gladiators dropped a 3-2 decision to the Florida Everblades on Friday night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. In his first game with Gwinnett, Jon Awe notched a goal and had an assist on Joey Haddad's third marker of the season in the losing effort for Gwinnett. Brody Sutter broke a 2-2 tie with his third goal of the season 12:57 into the third period.
Saturday, January 19: Gwinnett 4, Greenville 3 - OTW
The Gwinnett Gladiators moved back into a tie for first place in the ECHL' s South Division with a 4-3 shootout win over the Greenville Road Warriors on Saturday night at the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville, SC. Justin Bowers and Alex Belzile scored in the shootout while Louis Domingue stopped four of five Greenville shooters to lead Gwinnett to the victory. Sacha Guimond had a team high 3 assist in the win for Gwinnett.
News & Notes:
Team High: Defenseman Sacha Guimond was assigned to the Gladiators from the Worcester Sharks of the AHL on Thursday. He made his Gladiators debut on Friday against Florida. He picked up an assist on each of the Gladiators three goals in regulation in Saturday's 4-3 shootout win over Greenville. Guimond's three assists ties the Gladiators season high for most assist by one player in one game.
With Gwinnett: The Gladiators acquired Justin Bowers from the San Francisco Bulls on Monday. Bowers made his Gladiators debut in a 5-1 loss at Greenville on Thursday. He earned his first point as a Gladiator, an assist, in the Gladiators 3-2 loss to Florida on Friday. Bower has notched eight goals and 22 assists for 30 points this season.
Three in a Row: Casey Pierro-Zabotel posted his 11th goal of the season for Gwinnett in Saturday's 4-3 shootout win over the Greenville Road Warriors. The goal extended his point-scoring streak to three straight game for the forward. Pierro-Zabotel has notched one goal and two assist over his current point-scoring streak. His current streak is his fifth point-scoring streak of the season of three or more games.
Goals: Rookie forward Doug Jones collected his team leading 17th goal of the season in the Gladiators 4-3 shootout win over Greenville on Saturday night. Jones' 17 goals on the season shares 16th overall among all goal scorers in the league while it ranks fourth among ECHL rookies this season.
Coming on Strong: Rookie forward Alex Belzile notched his 6th goal of the season for Gwinnett in Saturday's 4-3 shootout win over the Greenville Road Warriors and also had an assist in the contest. The St-Eloi, Quebec native has been on a tear for the Gladiators over the past nine game. Since the start of 2013, Belzile has earned four goals and eight assists for 12 points. In his first 13 games with the Gladiators this season, Belzile notched just four points (two goals, two assists) in that span.
On the Kill: The Gladiators gave up just one goal on five chances in Saturday night's 4-3 shootout win over the Greenville Road Warriors. Gwinnett ranks third overall on the penalty kill in the ECHL. Gwinnett has killed off 85.2 percent of opponents' power play chances this season, and have given up 25 power play goals this year on 169 chances. The Gladiators have given up multiple power play goals in a game just four times this season.
