
Road Warriors Fall in Tight Game against Gladiators

Greenville, SC: The Road Warriors lost a close game 4-3 in a shootout against their division rival, the Gwinnett Gladiators.
The Gladiators got the scoring started early. Just 27 seconds in to the game, Alex Belzile beat Stajcer for his sixth goal of the season. That was the only goal of the period as Gwinnett outshot the Road Warriors 12-9 in the first frame.
The Road Warriors would eventually tie the game as Zach Cohen scored his sixth of the year and first as a Road Warrior,with Mike Marcou collecting the assist. Gwinnett broke the 1-1 tie with a goal from Casey Pierro-Zabotel, his 11th of the year. The game would return to a tie at 2-2 with Bretton Cameron deflecting a shot from T.J. Reynolds. Cameron extended his goal streak to four games. Louis Domingue stayed strong in net rejecting multiple opportunities from the Greenville offense.
In the third, Doug Jones put Gwinnett up a goal on his 17th of the year just 2:43 into the third period. Jones' wrist shot beat Scott Stajcer glove high on the man advantage. Greenville would add a power play goal of their own with Brendan Connolly scoring his 18th of the year. Connolly baked a shot off Domingue from behind the net, that snuck past the Gwinnett netminder. This goal forced overtime which saw nine total shots. Gwinnett outshot the Road Warriors 5-4. A shootout would ensue as Justin Bowers and Belzile scored for Gwinnett. Only Brandon Wong would tally a goal for the Road Warriors, as Greenville fell 2-1 in the shootout and 4-3 in the game.
The Road Warriors begin a lengthy road trip on Monday in Gwinnett at 12:30 p.m. The six game road trip will move to the Sunshine State with three games against Florida and two against Orlando beginning on January 26th.
