Atlanta Gladiators News Release
Game #5 Changed! Game #5, if necessary, of the Western Conference Finals has moved from Sunday, May 9th at 4:05 p.m. to Saturday, May 8th at 7:35 p.m. at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. All tickets purchased for Game #5 for Sunday, May 9th will be honored on Saturday, May 8th. For Kelly Cup Playoff ticket information, contact the Gladiators office at 770-497-5100.
Double Durno: Forward Chris Durno tallied two goals in the Gladiators 3-1 win against Idaho on April 28th to jump into the team lead for goals scored with 7 during the post-season. Durno has recorded a power play goal and two games winning goals in the playoff for the Gladiators.
In a Flache: Defenseman Paul Flache recorded his first two assists of the post season against the Idaho Steelheads. The second year pro tallied his first assist in the Gladiators 3-1 win on April 28th against the Steelheads and chipped in another helper on May 1st in the Gladiators 3-1 loss at Idaho. Flache has 2 goals and 2 assists in the post season, tying his career high 4 post-season points.
On the Power Play: The Gladiators are second overall on the power play in the post season, behind Reading, of the four teams remaining in the Kelly Cup Playoffs. Gwinnett went 2-for-6 on the man advantage in the Gladiators 3-1 win over Idaho on Wednesday. The Gladiators only had two power play chances in their 3-1 loss on Saturday.
Halted! Chris Durno had a four game goal-scoring streak halted in the Gladiators 3-1 loss at Idaho on Saturday. Durno's four-game streak is tied for the longest post-season streak this season. Florida's Tom Buckley also tallied at least one goal in four straight games for the Everblades. Durno's longest goal-scoring streak during the regular season was 3 games from December 30th to January 3rd.
On the Plus Side: The trio of Kris Goodjohn, Steve Slonina and Chris Durno have combined in the post season for a +15 rating in 12 post season games. Each has recorded a +5, adding a +1 in the Gladiators 3-1 win over the Steelheads in Game #2 last Wednesday. Their +5 shares third among ECHL rookies in plus-minus rating.

April 27th, Idaho 5, Gladiators 3 – L
Gwinnett fell behind the Steelheads 38 seconds into the first period and trailed 4-1 early in the second period. Goals by Cam Brown (5:32, 2nd) and Chris Durno (1:13, 3rd) cut the Idaho lead to a goal but the Gladiators could not get any closer as Idaho tallied a power play goal at 12:40 of the third to put the game away and take a 1 game to none series lead in the Western Conference Final.
April 28th, Gladiators 3, Idaho 1 – W
Michael Garnett recorded 33 saves, including numerous game saving stops in the second and third period for his 7th post-season victory. Chris Durno scored twice in the first period for the Gladiators to tie and then give Gwinnett the lead while Tyler Deis' second goal of the post season gave the Gladiators a two goal cushion before the end of the opening period. Gwinnett went 2-for-6 on the power play in the win.
May 1st, Idaho 3, Gladiators 1 – L
Idaho jumped out to a 2-0 lead midway through the second period before Anthony Aquino tallied his first goal of the post season with a little over six minutes remaining in the second period. Paul Flache picked up the assist on the goal but the Gladiators could get no closer in the loss. Michael Garnett recorded 26 in the loss as Idaho took a 2 games to 1 series lead in the Western Conference Finals.

Idaho leads the Western Conference Finals 2 games to 1 following the 3-1 win in Game #3 at Idaho on Sunday night. The Gladiators trail a series 2 games to 1 for the first time this post season and face elimination in a non-game #5 setting. The Gladiators are 1-1 in game #4's this post season although both of them were at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. The Gladiators will host Game #5, if necessary on Saturday, May 8th at 7:35 p.m. at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. Chris Durno leads the Gladiators in goals scored against the Steelheads with 3 goals while Cam Brown has recorded a goal and two assists. Idaho has used solid Goaltending from Dan Ellis to pick up wins in Games #1 & #3. Ellis has posted a .941 save percentage against the Gladiators.
