Despite holding a two goal lead in the third period, the Gladiaotrs were unable to come away with the victory. Two goals in the last 5 minutes of the third period forced a overtime, where a penalty shot goal by Tyler Doig was enough to get the win.

The Gladiators got off to an early lead, as Pat Galivan scored his second goal in as many games. After scoring the game winning goal with 27 ticks remaining on Saturday night, Galivan got the Gladiators the start they wanted on the road. Tom Zanoski sent a pass into the offensive zone, trying to connect with Michael Forney. Forney tipped the puck back to Galivan, who just squeaked a backhander through the pads of netminder Ryan Munce. The goal came at the 4:41 mark of the period.

The Gladiators took the 1-0 lead into the first intermission. Each team had a few good chances, but both goaltenders stayed strong for the remainder of the period.

The offense picked up a bit in the second period, with the Checkers striking first. While on the man advantage, Charlotte's Tyler Doig wristed a shot through traffic and past an unsuspecting David Brown. Assisting on the goal at the 3:38 mark was Michel Leveille.

The tie would only last for 1 minute and 4 seconds, as Chad Denny would strike right back for the Gladiators. Matt Francis was able to work the puck in along the far side, and fired the puck on net. It pinballed off Munce and a few Charlotte defensemen before Chad Denny was able to put the rebound in for a goal. Official time of the goal was 4:42.

The score would remain 2-1 in favor of Gwinnett for about 15 minutes, until Chris Snavely was able to put one home for the Checkers. A broken odd man rush for the Checkers saw the puck end up on the stick of Chris Snavely. Snavely took a shot with traffic in front of Brown, and was able to put it home tying the game at 2.

The Gladiators would get two goals to open up the third period. The first came at 4:02 of the period, when Matt Siddall found the puck on the left wing side. Siddall fired a shot into the top right corner of the net, right over the glove of goaltender Ryan Munce. Denny picked up an assist on the goal.

The Gladiators would extend their lead to two goals about 5 minutes later. Jason Lawrence picked up the neutral zone and led a 3 on 1 into the attacking zone. He fired a shot of the leg pad of Munce, and Zanoski was there to tap home the rebound.

The Gladiators looked to be in good shape until the 15:14 mark. At the tail end of 5-on-3 power play, Michel Leveille fired a shot on goal with Rowe camped in front. Rowe deflected the shot past David Brown, cutting the Gladiator's lead to one.

With the goalie pulled, Charlotte was able to apply good pressure. With 12 seconds remaining in the period, David Marshall collected a loose puck and fired it into the top corner and force overtime. Rowe and Roche received assists on the goal.

Charlotte would complete the comeback with a penalty shot in overtime. After Tyler Doig was able to get a half-step on the Gladiator defense, Filangieri was forced to take him down. Doig came in along the left side and fired a shot past Brown, giving the Checkers the 5-4 victory.

Charlotte finished the game 1-9 with the man-advantage, while the Gladiators were 1-5. Brown stopped 45 shots in the loss. Doig led the way in scoring for the Checkers with 2 goals and 1 assist. Charlotte improved to 11-4-1-1 and Gwinnett fell to 9-5-2-1.
