Cleveland Gladiators News Release
CLEVELAND - Gladiators defensive end Jeramie Richardson has been named AFL Playmaker of the Week for his Week 10 performance versus the Milwaukee Mustangs, the Arena Football League announced today. Richardson becomes the third Gladiators player to be recognized for on-field performance in 2012.
Normally a defensive end, Richardson carried the ball three times for five yards and three touchdowns in the Gladiators 69-48 win on the NFL Network. He has now rushed for six touchdowns in his last four games.
Defensively, Richardson recovered a blocked field goal attempt in the end zone for a touchdown in the second quarter. His touchdown gave the Gladiators a 28-7 lead with 7:28 left in the half.
"Jeramie has a high motor and it was only a matter of time before he had a game like he did last week," Gladiators head coach Steve Thonn said. "He deserves this award and we are happy for him."
Richardson is now a finalist for the National Guard MVP of the Week. Fans will have 24 hours to vote beginning at 1 p.m. ET on Wednesday, May 16. The winner will be announced on Thursday, May 17, 2012.
The Gladiators return to The Q this Saturday when the host the Tampa Bay Storm on Country Music Night! Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm.
The Cleveland Gladiators are part of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Quicken Loans Arena organization and also owned by a group led by Cavaliers Majority Owner and Quicken Loans Founder and Chairman Dan Gilbert.
