
Kauleinamoku and Sanders Earn Week 10 Honors

CHICAGO - Utah WR SHAUN KAULEINAMOKU has been awarded the Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Week award, while Spokane DB TERRANCE SANDERS has been named the Riddell Defensive Player of the Week and JLS Ironman of the Week for Week 10 of the 2012 AFL season. In addition to these three awards, the AFL is also awarding the Cutters Catch of the Week, AFL Playmaker of the Week and Spalding Highlight of the Week. The Cutters Catch of the Week award winner for Week 10 is WR ANDRAE THURMAN of the Milwaukee Mustangs. Cleveland FB/LB JERAMIE RICHARDSON has been awarded the AFL Playmaker of the Week award, while the Spalding Highlight of the Week award winner is Milwaukee DB KELVIN RODGERS.
RUSSELL ATHLETIC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kauleinamoku (5-9, 185, Western Oregon) caught 13 passes for 211 yards and five touchdowns in Utah's Week 10 loss to the San Jose SaberCats. Kauleinamoku became just the third player this season to record a 200-yard receiving game. In two games with the Blaze this season, Kauleinamoku has collected nine touchdown passes.
RIDDELL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sanders (5-10, 180, Eastern Illinois) recorded his second two-interception game in three weeks in the Shock's 68-62 overtime win against the New Orleans VooDoo. He led the team with 8.5 tackles and recorded an interception in overtime that set up the team's game-winning score. He is one interception shy of tying the single-season franchise record of six.
JLS IRONMAN OF THE WEEK
Sanders was also awarded JLS Ironman of the Week honors for his efforts in the return game. He returned two kickoffs for touchdown in Week 10 and finished with 182 all-purpose yards in the game. Sanders now has ten career kick return touchdowns, placing him ahead of AFL Hall of Famers Eddie Brown and Barry Wagner for his career. He will receive a watch crafted by JLS for his efforts in Week 10.
CUTTERS CATCH OF THE WEEK
Thurman (6-0, 180, Southern Oregon) made a fingertip grab for a Milwaukee score on NFL Network's broadcast of "NET10 Arena Football Friday" in Week 10. Thurman finished the game with 12 catches for 154 yards and three touchdowns. In two games with the Mustangs, Thurman has 240 receiving yards and six touchdowns. He will receive a Cutters t-shirt and hat for his efforts in Week 10.
AFL PLAYMAKER OF THE WEEK
Richardson (6-1, 270, Angelo State) found the end zone four times in Cleveland's 69-48 victory over Milwaukee in Week 10. He rushed three times for three scores and recovered a block kick in the end zone for a fourth touchdown.
SPALDING HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK
Rodgers (6-1, 180, Minnesota State-Mankato) returned a kickoff 58 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter of Milwaukee's loss to Cleveland in Week 10. It was the third consecutive game Rodgers returned a kick for a score. He finished the night with a game-high 186 all-purpose yards.
Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Week candidates included: Arizona's Glen Fox, Georgia's Larry Shipp, Iowa's JJ Raterink, Milwaukee's Andrae Thurman, New Orleans', L.J. Castile, Philadelphia's Jeff Hughley and San Antonio's Aaron Garcia.
Riddell Defensive Player of the Week candidates included: Arizona's Kevin McCullough, Cleveland's Levy Brown, Georgia's Kris Cooke, Iowa's John Mohring, San Antonio's Wes Mauia and San Jose's Tim McGill.
JLS Ironman of the Week candidates included: Arizona's Odie Armstrong, Cleveland's Jeramie Richardson, Georgia's CJ Johnson, Iowa's BJ Cabbell, Philadelphia's Jeff Hughley, Pittsburgh's PJ Berry and San Jose's Huey Whittaker.
The Arena Football League is also awarding the National Guard MVP of the Week, where fans are given the opportunity to select the winner. Candidates include Cleveland Gladiators FB/LB Jeramie Richardson, Spokane Shock DB Terrance Sanders and Utah Blaze WR Shaun Kauleinamoku. Fans will have 24 hours to vote beginning at 1 p.m. ET on Wednesday, May 16. The winner will be announced on Thursday, May 17, 2012.
