
Giants to Face Silvertips in 2016/17 Home Opener

Vancouver, B.C. - The Vancouver Giants announced on Wednesday that the hockey club will open the 2016/17 WHL regular season on Friday, September 23, 2016, against the Everett Silvertips at the Langley Events Centre. The puck drop for the home opener is slated for 7:30pm.
Vancouver and Everett met on six occasions during the 2015/16 season. The G-Men went 2-3-1-0 against the Silvertips, winning 2-1 on December 19, 2015 at the Xfinity Arena in Everett and 4-2 on December 27, 2015 at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver. Four of the six games in the season series were decided by only one goal.
The Langley Events Centre opened in 2009 and is located in the Township of Langley on 200th street at 80th avenue. The 322,312 square foot facility has played host to hockey, lacrosse, basketball, volleyball and gymnastics as well as many other special events. The current capacity for hockey at the LEC is 5,276.
The home opener will be the first of 36 home contests and 72 regular season games for the G-Men in 2016/17. The full pre-season and regular season schedules will be released at a later date.
