San Jose Giants News Release

SAN JOSE, CA - Stockton's James Harris hit a game-tying RBI double in the top of the ninth before the Ports exploded for four runs in the 11th on their way to an 8-4 victory over the San Jose Giants on Thursday evening at Municipal Stadium. The loss came in the opener of a seven-game homestand for the Giants (57-54).

T.J. Bennett (2-for-5, 2B, HR, 2 RBI) and Cristian Paulino (1-for-4, HR, RBI) both homered to lead the San Jose offensive attack in defeat. Mitch Delfino (2-for-5, 2 2B, RBI) added a pair of doubles for the Giants.

San Jose rallied from an early 3-0 deficit in the contest and enjoyed a one-run lead going into the top of the ninth. Paulino got the Giants on the scoreboard when he launched a solo home run down the left field line in the bottom of the second. Then in the sixth, Delfino led off with a double before Bennett stepped to the plate and crushed a two-run home run over the fence in straightaway center. The homer, Bennett's third of the season, tied the game 3-3.

San Jose then took their first lead of the night with a single run in the bottom of the seventh. With two outs, Jonah Arenado singled before Delfino clubbed an RBI double off the left field wall for a 4-3 Giants advantage.

The one-run lead remained intact heading into the top of the ninth for San Jose. Reyes Moronta entered from the bullpen to start the frame and surrendered a one-out infield single to Seth Brown. Iolana Akau then flied out for the second out of the inning. Harris was up next and with Stockton down to their last strike, belted a 2-2 pitch from Moronta off the fence in deep right for a double. The hit scored Brown from first base to tie the game 4-4.

The Ports then went back in front with a four-run top of the 11th against Carlos Diaz. Consecutive one-out doubles from Jose Brizuela and Richie Martin produced the first run and gave Stockton a 5-4 lead. Two batters later, Akau singled into shallow center plating Martin to make it 6-4. Then after a Harris single, Mikey White delivered a two-RBI double for an 8-4 Ports cushion.

Cody Stull (3-2) earned the win out of the Stockton bullpen after tossing three perfect innings from the eighth through the tenth. Stull struck out two.

Diaz (0-3) was charged with all four runs in the top of the 11th to take the loss.
