Mistakes Doom Blaze in Lake Elsinore
August 5, 2016 - California League (CalL1)
Bakersfield Blaze News Release
It's been the same song and dance over the last three days for the Blaze as they dropped Game 1 of their series against the Storm 6-3 on Thursday night.
Bakersfield (60-51) was the victim of some timely hitting, a few mistake pitches, and sloppy defense as Lake Elsinore (56-55) has positioned themselves nicely for a possible playoff spot.
The Blaze committed another two errors on this night and their offense could not help with the recovery as they continue to struggle with runners in scoring position by going 2-14.
Joe DeCarlo was one of the few bright spots for the Blaze as he was 2-3 with two doubles, an RBI, and a run scored in the loss.
Art Warren was removed after two scheduled innings by the Blaze. The young right-hander surrendered one run, struck out three, and gave up two hits.
Isaac Sanchez fell to 3-5 on the season after he gave up three runs (1ER) in three innings of relief.
Bakersfield's second half division lead is now just four games over the Visalia Rawhide as the two teams will meet next week.
In the South Division Lake Elsinore continues to trail only Lancaster by 2.5 games with 29 games to go in the season.
The Blaze and Storm will get ready for Game 2 on Friday night from The Diamond. First pitch is scheduled for 7pm with David Gascon on the call courtesy of TuneIn Radio and BakersfieldBlaze.com.
