Lancaster JetHawks News Release
LANCASTER, Calif. - Drew Ferguson hit two of Lancaster's five home runs to lead the JetHawks to a 13-8 win over the Modesto Nuts on Friday night at The Hangar.
Ferguson, who now has 11 home runs this season, also recorded six RBI. Trent Woodward, Johnny Sewald, and Brooks Marlow also went deep for the JetHawks. Marlow, who put the JetHawks in front in the eighth inning last night with a long ball, did so again tonight with a two-run shot in the sixth.
The JetHawks went up 4-0 with a pair of runs in the first and two more in the third. Modesto stormed back with three in the fourth and four in the fifth inning. Emerson Jimenez delivered a two-run single and Josh Fuentes came through with a two-run double.
Sewald's homer, leading off the bottom of the fifth, brought Lancaster within one. They added three in the sixth to take the lead for good. The JetHawks scored five times in the eighth inning to essentially put the game away. Josh Fuentes went deep for Modesto in the ninth inning with a solo shot.
Akeem Bostick (3-1) breezed through the first two innings on just 16 pitches and despite giving up seven runs on 10 hits in six innings, picked up the win. Scott Weathersby recorded his first save of the season, striking out six over the final three innings to close out the game.
The JetHawks (61-49) and Nuts (43-68) continue their four-game series on Friday night at The Hangar. Akeem Bostick (2-1) will start for Lancaster against Yency Almonte (8-8). First pitch is 6:35 p.m.
