Vancouver Giants News Release
Vancouver, B.C. -- Vancouver Giants goaltender Marek Schwarz will not be returning to the Western Hockey League club next season.
The 19-year old Schwarz, a former first round pick of the National Hockey League's St. Louis Blues, has signed a two year contract with Sparta Praque in the Czech Republic, the Giants announced Tuesday.
Schwarz played in 56 games for the Giants this past season, compiling a 26-24-4 record, a 2.67 goals against average and a .900 save percentage. He finished among the league leaders for first year players.
He also helped the Czech Republic win a bronze medal at the world junior championship last January.
