Vancouver Giants News Release
The Vancouver Giants have made a trade today with the Tri-City Americans, swapping picks in the annual Canadian Hockey League Import Draft.
The Giants have acquired the Americans first round pick in the 2005 import draft. In exchange, Tri-City will receive Vancouver's first round pick in the 2006 draft.
"With goaltender Marek Schwarz and defenceman Andrej Meszaros moving on to pursue their pro careers, our team now can use two picks in the upcoming Import Draft," says Giants General Manager Scott Bonner. "Having two first round selections in this coming draft should benefit the future of our club for the next few seasons."
The Giants will have the Western Hockey League's seventh and ninth selections in the draft, giving them two picks in the top 30. The CHL Import Draft involving clubs from the WHL, OHL, and QMJHL will take place June 29.
