Giants and Tigers Put on a Show

Medicine Hat - The Vancouver Giants continued their trek through Alberta and battled the Medicine Hat Tigers in a rematch of the 2007 Memorial Cup Final. The Giants would prevail in a barnburner by the score of 6-2.

After a scoreless first period, the Tigers would open the scoring shorthanded as Colton Grant, converting a Tyler Ennis feed and beating Tyson Sexsmith blocker side. The Giants would strike back, scoring two goals in the final two minutes of the second frame. Misha Fisenko would snipe his 10th of the season over the shoulder of Tigers tender Ryan Holfeld at 18:23, then Casey Pierro-Zabotel would hammer home his 20th to make the score 2-1 after two periods.

The Giant exploded in the third period scoring four goals. Pierro-Zabotel would add his second of the game, and followed that up with his third of the game moments later for the hat trick. Andrej Kudrna and Jonathon Blum would also notch 3rd period markers as the tigers had no answers for the Giants attack.

The Giants move their record to 35-3-0-3 and now have 73 points through their first 40 games. The seven game Alberta odyssey continues on Tuesday night as the Giants head to the City of Champions to take on the Edmonton Oil Kings. You can catch all the action on AM 650, with the Save On foods Pre Game show at 5:30, followed by all the action from the Medicine Hat Arena at 6 pm. Dave Sheldon will have all of the action from Rexall Place as the Giants look for their fourth straight win and 36th win on the season.
