January 14, 2009 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Prince George Cougars News Release
Prince George, BC - The Prince George Cougars, in partnership with Home Depot, are proud to announce the launch of the 2009 Backyard Rink Contest.
The contest offers outdoor rink makers the chance to face off against members of the Prince George Cougars in their own backyard. Last year, the Raju family from College Heights was the local winner in the Home Depot Backyard Rink Contest- a nationwide event executed in 25 different markets.
"This is an event the Cougar players and organization always looks forward to and is a great way for the players and fans to interact one on one" says Cougars Vice President Brandi Brodsky. "After the draw is made, there will be a few Cougar fans that will get the chance to lace up their skates with some of their heroes in their own neighborhood."
To enter, contestants must simply fill out a ballot at The Home Depot store at 5959 O'Grady Road, or at the Cougars office at the CN Centre. The contest ends February 20th, with the winner announced at the Cougars home game that night.
The Home Depot Backyard Rink winner will host a game on their home surface with members of the Prince George Cougars at a date to be determined.
