Stockton Kings News Release
For Stockton Kings forward Christian Terrell, playing basketball at the highest level has always been his dream, but putting on for the city that raised him at every step of the way was always just as important.
Born and raised in Sacramento, CA, the 916 native Terrell arrived on the high school basketball scene as one of the best prospects in the state, earning a top 60 ESPN ranking in California during his time at Sacramento High School.
Despite receiving interest from high-major power five programs such as Gonzaga and USC after averaging 13 points, 8 rebounds, and nearly 5 assists in his senior year of high school, Terrell opted to commit to UC Santa Barbara - leaving the Sactown area that raised him.
After a short stint as a Gaucho, Terrell felt there was an opportunity for him to earn a larger role for another program. In the transfer portal as a former top-60 state recruit, Terrell had a number of options to finish out his collegiate career, and what better place to go than where it all started?
At the conclusion of his junior season with UCSB in 2019, Terrell made the call to return to his hometown and transferred to Sacramento State, earning the starting small forward spot for the Hornets.
Though he wasn't able to play in front of a hometown crowd due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Terrell thrived in the return to his backyard as a lead two-way anchor for Sac State. In his lone season with the Hornets, Terrell averaged 11.9 points and four boards per game. On top of his ability to play on both sides of the ball, Terrell's major athleticism earned the attention of the G-League affiliate for his hometown team, the Stockton Kings.
Though he had one year of eligibility left, Terrell decided to fulfill his dream of going pro and joined the Kings organization in the summer of 2021 after going undrafted in that year's draft.
Terrell is currently averaging 4.5 points and two rebounds per game in his second season with Stockton.
