Georgia Force News Release
ATLANTA, GA. â One of Georgia's most successful athletes is now helping one of Georgia's newest professional sport sensations. Hank Aaron, Major League Baseball's all-time home run king, has provided two MINI Cooper automobiles to help promote the Georgia Force and their version of the MINI Cooper- offensive specialist Markeith Cooper. Aaron owns and operates a successful group of automotive dealerships in the Atlanta area including BMW, Honda, Jaguar, Land Rover, MINI and Toyota.
Listed at 5'6" tall, Markeith Cooper is the shortest player in the Arena Football League and one of the league's most explosive offensive threats. The MINI Cooper automobiles, which were designed to be the smallest possible car that would still accommodate four adults and luggage -- measuring approximately 10 feet long, 4 feet high and 4 feet wide -- have been wrapped in Georgia Force designs featuring Markeith Cooper. The two MINI Markeith Coopers will be traveling throughout the city of Atlanta over the next several months attending promotional events and other public functions.
"This is a tailor-made relationship," explained Force General Manager Eddie Rockwell. "Both Markeith Cooper and the MINI Cooper automobiles are perfect examples of how size and speed can be used to their fullest. Whether people are seeing Markeith Cooper on the field or seeing one of Hank Aaron's MINI Coopers on the road, they are always turning heads."
Currently, Markeith Cooper leads the Force in all receiving categories and ranks in the Top 10 among all receivers in the AFL. Earlier this season, he set a new team record for most all-purpose yards in a single game with 270 against Tampa Bay. Following his performance against the Storm, Cooper was awarded the league's Offensive Player of the Week honor.
The Georgia Force travel to The Palace of Auburn Hills to take on the Detroit Fury on Thursday, April 1st at 7:30 p.m. The Force are 4-4 on the season and will return for their next home game on April 18th to host the Orlando Predators at 3:00 p.m. in the Arena at Gwinnett Center. A network-TV sport, the AFL celebrates its 2nd season on NBC in 2004.
