DENVER - Colorado Crush defensive specialist Rashad Floyd has been named the Arena Football League's ADT Defensive Player of the Week for Week 8 of the 2004 season, the league announced today.

Floyd (6-0, 200, Portland State), who is in his third AFL season, led the Colorado Crush to a 54-46 victory over the Arizona Rattlers (3-4) on Saturday. He had 11.5 total tackles, an interception, a forced fumble and 4-yard net-recovery return for a touchdown.

With the victory and Chicago's 72-71 loss to Detroit, Colorado (6-2) gained sole possession of first place in the Central Division.

This marks the first time that Floyd has earned an AFL weekly honor, and the Oakland, Calif., native is the second Crush player awarded a weekly honor this season. Wide receiver/defensive back Kevin McKenzie was named U.S. Army Ironman of the Week for Week 2 of the season.

Floyd spent two seasons with the Orlando Predators before signing as a free agent with the Crush on October 30, 2003. He has been named Defensive Player of the Game four times through the Crush's first eight games, including each of the last two weeks.

The 6-2 Crush host the 3-5 Indiana Firebirds at the Pepsi Center on Saturday, April 3, 2004 at 1 p.m. MST. The game is a Crush Family Day and fans can get four hot dogs, four Pepsis and four tickets for just $59.
