THE GAME
The Force will travel to Austin to face the Wranglers on Sunday, April 9, at 4:00 p.m. (ET) in the Frank Erwin Center. Last week, the Force defeated the Kansas City Brigade, 55-47, improving to 6-4 on the year and to 4-2 in the division.
Georgia leads the all-time series 3-2 after losing to Austin in Week 6 at Philips Arena. In the Week 6 loss, Force OS Chris Jackson did not play. In the four games since he returned, Jackson has hauled in 36 receptions for 437 yards and 16 touchdowns. This week's meeting matches two of the top five scoring defense. Georgia has the fourth ranked scoring defense in the AFL, allowing 46.3 points per game through 10 weeks. With both defenses being so evenly matched, the onus will fall on the Force offense. Georgia is ranked second in the AFL in scoring offense, averaging 56.3 points per game, through 10 weeks. Austin's offense is averaging 51.1 points per game through 10 weeks, ranking them ninth in the league.
THE OPPENENT
The Austin Wranglers enter the contest as the Southern Division leader with a 7-3 record through 10 weeks. Last week, Austin defeated the Philadelphia Soul, 43-38, improving to 5-1 on the road this season. The Wranglers are currently 2-2 at the Frank Erwin Center this year through four games.

HEAD COACHES
DOUG PLANK, Georgia (19-10, 2nd Year): Doug Plank enters his second season as head coach of the Georgia Force in 2006. In his first season as an AFL head coach, he led the Force on a magical ride to ArenaBowl XIX. Plank was voted 2005 AFL Coach of the Year after leading the Force to a league best 11-5 regular season record and a 13-6 record overall.
The 11-5 mark was the best record in franchise history (previous best 8-8 in 2003), and secured the Force's first Southern Division Championship and the number one seed in the playoffs. The Force went on to win the inaugural National Conference Championship game by defeating the Orlando Predators 60-58. The victory secured the Force's place in ArenaBowl XIX.
Plank has coached in four straight ArenaBowls. He helped lead the Arizona Rattlers to three previous ArenaBowls as their defensive coordinator. In his final season with the Rattlers, the team finished with an 11-5 record and earned the top seed in the AFL playoffs.
A former member of The Ohio State University football team, Plank played in three consecutive Rose Bowls (1973-75). While at Ohio State, he played for legendary coach Woody Hayes.
Plank brings with him a wealth of football experience that includes an impressive career in the NFL. He was selected by the Chicago Bears in the 12th round of the 1975 NFL Draft and started at safety for eight seasons. The "46 Defense" created by Buddy Ryan was named for Plank's jersey number and aggressive style of play. Plank was also the first Bears rookie to ever lead the team in tackles.
He has prior broadcasting experience with the Sports USA Radio Network, Arizona Cardinals, Arizona State University Football, Fox Sports Net, and Westwood One.
Plank and his wife, Nancy, have two children, Andrea and Michael.
SKIP FOSTER, Austin (21-21, 3rd Year): Head Coach Skip Foster is entering his third AFL season with the Austin Wranglers. Foster was the second most winning coach in af2 history with a 44-10 record, including an ArenaCup Championship. In addition to carrying the head coaching duties, Foster will again act as the Wranglers offensive coordinator.
Prior to joining the Wranglers, Foster served as the head coach for the 2003 af2-Champion Tulsa Talons. Foster led the team to a 13-3 regular season record, while accumulating 3,995 yards in total offense. This offensive effort also concluded with Tulsa out-scoring their opponents 823-690 in regular season play.
A graduate of Missouri Western State College, Foster earned a bachelor of science in education. Foster and his wife, Gay, have three children.
LAST TIME THESE TEAMS MET
ATLANTA, GA- Georgia fell to Southern Division rival Austin, 53-52, suffering their second loss of the season at Philips Arena and third overall. With the loss, the Force fell to 3-3 on the season and Austin improved to 5-1 with the win. Force WR/LB Derek Lee hauled in three touchdowns on six catches for 106 yards, helping him etch his name in the Force record books. Lee's three scores ties him with OS Markeith Cooper for first on the Force's all-time scoring list with 274 points scored.
In the first quarter, Georgia and Austin combined to score 35 points with the Force leading the Wranglers 21-14 at the conclusion of the quarter. The 21 points tied a Force franchise-high for points in the first quarter (last time: at Tampa Bay, 2/13/04). Georgia's FB/LB Robert Thomas scored from two yards out on the opening possession. The ensuing kickoff bounced over an Austin player and was recovered by Georgia's WR/DB Jamin Elliott for a touchdown, giving Georgia a 14-0 lead. Austin's WR/DB Sedrick Robinson returned the following kickoff 57 yards for a touchdown, cutting the Force lead to seven. Georgia responded when QB Matt Nagy connected with Lee for a 34-yard touchdown, stretching the Force lead to 21-7.
Georgia produced the first defensive stop of the game on Austin's first possession of the quarter as Wranglers QB John Fitzgerald's pass to WR/DB Kevin Nickerson was short of the first down. Georgia scored after the defensive stop, when Nagy completed an eight-yard pass to Lee for a touchdown. The two teams traded scores throughout the rest of the quarter with Force K Nelson Garner drilling a 34-yard field goal as time expired in the half. The field goal gave the Force a 38-33 lead over the Wranglers heading into the half.
After three quarters, Georgia led Austin 52-46. The two teams continued to trade scores with each team scoring two touchdowns a piece. Georgia's points came on Lee's 29-yard reception and a FB/LB Matt Huebner one-yard touchdown run to end the quarter. Austin's scores came on an eight-yard pass to OL/DL Ramon Robinson from Fitzgerald and a 10 yard fumble recovery by Robinson after a blocked field goal by Georgia's OL/DL Jermaine Smith.
Austin outscored Georgia 7-0 in the final quarter to prevail, 53-52. Midway through the fourth quarter, Fitzgerald rushed for a two-yard score to give the Wranglers a 53-52 lead, and they never looked back.

Georgia at Kansas City
KANSAS CITY, MO- Georgia Force head coach Doug Plank became the franchise's all-time winningest coach, with a 55-47 victory against the Kansas City Brigade. The win marked Plank's 19th victory as a head coach in just over a season and a half. With the win, Georgia improved to 6-4 on the year, as Kansas City fell to 1-9. Force QB Matt Nagy passed former Force QB Leon Murray as the franchise's all-time leading passer. Nagy's 5,665 passing yards as a member of the Force surpassed Murray's previous record of 5,382 yards.
The first quarter ended with the Force and the Brigade tied at seven. Kansas City scored on a five-yard pass from QB Chris Sanders to WR/LB James Jordan. Georgia's touchdown was scored by WR/LB Derek Lee on a four-yard pass from Nagy.
At the end of the first half, Georgia and Kansas City were tied at 28. The teams traded scores to begin the second quarter. After a touchdown by the Brigade's WR/LB Aaron Boone, Georgia's OS Chris Jackson fumbled the ensuing kickoff, which was recovered by Kansas City. Four plays later a fumble by Sanders was recovered by the Force's FB/LB Kevin Aldridge. After the turnover, Georgia's drive was capped off by a one-yard touchdown run by Aldridge. With two seconds remaining in the half, Sanders scored from one-yard out giving the Brigade a 28-21 lead. The Force's Jackson retuned the kickoff 43 yards, down to Kansas City's one-yard line. The Brigade were off-sides on the kickoff giving the Force an un-timed down at the end the half. Nagy connected with Jackson on a quick pitch and Jackson dove into the end zone, evening the score at 28.
The Force's third quarter began with a fumble by WR/LB Jamin Elliott, ending their opening drive of the half. Kansas City capitalized on Georgia's second turnover, when Sanders connected with OS Jerel Myers from 27-yards out. The Brigade's K MacKenzie Hoambrecker missed the ensuing extra point, pulling Kansas City to within one, 34-35. Georgia responded with a 45-yard strike from Nagy to Jackson. The Brigade's next possession ended when Sander's pass fell incomplete on fourth and goal. After the Force's defensive stop Nagy found Jackson for his second touchdown of the game. The touchdown increased Georgia's lead to eight, 42-34, ending the third quarter.
Jackson added two more touchdowns for the Force in the fourth quarter, ensuring Georgia's 55-47 victory over the Brigade. The teams traded scores throughout the quarter and with three seconds left in the game Sanders' desperation heave was batted down by Georgia's DS Nate Coggins and DS Chris Brown.

THINGS TO WATCH
Setting the Bar
Lee: In Week 8, WR/LB Lee surpassed former Force OS Markeith Cooper as the franchises all-time scorer (304) with his touchdown grab in the first quarter against San Jose. Lee also passed Cooper as Georgia's all-time leader in receiving yards (2,051) in week eight. Lee registered 192 yards receiving against San Jose, setting the franchise record for receiving yards in a single game (Chris Jackson: 173 vs. Dallas, 5/14/05).
Jackson: In Week 9 against Tampa Bay, OS Chris Jackson recorded 10 receptions for 124 yards for six touchdowns on offense and added two kickoff returns for 75 yards and one touchdown. His seven touchdowns was a Force franchise record in a single-game, surpassing teammate Derek Lee's record of six that he set on 3/12/05 at New York. The 42 points that Jackson scored are also a new Force single-game high, passing Lee's 36 points. Jackson was named AFL Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against Tampa Bay.
Nagy: Last week, QB Matt Nagy surpassed former Force QB Leon Murray as the franchises all-time leader in passing yards. On his first completion of the game, a 28-yard pass to WR/LB Jamin Elliott, Nagy passed Murray (5,382) with 5,398 yards as a member of the Georgia Force. He finished with 295 yards in the game and with 5,665 yards passing as Georgia's quarterback.
Man on Fire
Force QB Matt Nagy has produced monster numbers in the past four weeks. In the last four games, Nagy has thrown for 1,066 yards, 27 touchdowns and zero interceptions. Last week, Nagy completed 25-of-30 passes against Kansas City, including completing 16-of-17 in the second half of the Force's, 55-47, victory. The Force are 3-1 in those games and Nagy shows no signs of cooling off.

Sophomore Stud
WR/LB Derek Lee is having no part of a "sophomore slump". After a tremendous rookie season in 2005 when he set an AFL rookie record with 113 receptions (105 by Mike Baker-St. Louis, 1996), Lee is continuing to be an unstoppable force. Lee set a franchise record for receptions in a single game in Week 3 at Tampa Bay by hauling in 15 receptions. In Week 8, Lee recorded a franchise-high 192 yards receiving in a single-game on 11 catches for five touchdowns. Lee is tied for third in the league in receptions (83), in addition to recording 884 yards and 17 touchdowns through 10 weeks of the season.
Sack Master
Georgia's OL/DL Jermaine Smith has recorded 16 sacks as a member of the Force. The 16 sacks with the Force makes him the all-time leader in sacks in franchise history. In Week 9 against Tampa Bay, Smith recorded two sacks, including a safety late in the first half. Smith has 3.5 sacks through ten games this season.
New Arrivals
Last season, Force rookies OS Troy Bergeron and WR/LB Derek Lee led the Force to ArenaBowl XIX. In 2006, rookies DS Chris Brown and WR/DB Jamin Elliott look to help the Force return to the ArenaBowl.
Chris Brown
Brown leads the league in tackles (80.5), interceptions (4) and is third in pass break-ups (7) through ten games. In Week 4 at Las Vegas, Brown tied a franchise-high with three interceptions in a single game, returning two of the three for touchdowns. In Week 5 versus Kansas City, Brown collected his fourth interception of the season and his third returned for a touchdown. Brown has returned his last three interceptions for touchdowns. Due to his performances against Las Vegas and Kansas City, Brown was named AFL Rookie of the Month for January/February. In Week 8, Brown led the team with 10.5 tackles at San Jose.
Jamin Elliott
Elliott, who played college football at Delaware with Force QB Matt Nagy, recorded his first touchdown in the AFL in Week 4 at Las Vegas. He registered four receptions for 77 yards and three touchdowns en route to a 54-34 Force victory. Elliott registered his first 100-yard receiving game Week 5 versus Kansas City. He hauled in 10 catches for 111 yards and a touchdown in Georgia's 51-19 victory over Kansas City. Elliott added four scores against Columbus in Week 7, three receiving touchdowns and a fumble recovery for a touchdown.
Action Jackson-By the Numbers
It is amazing to look how much OS Chris Jackson has done in just over six seasons. Here is a look at what the seven-year veteran has accomplished in 85 career regular season AFL games.
83 games with at least one TD
82 games with at least one receiving TD
60 games with at least two TDs
38 games with at least three receiving TDs

* Only player to win the AFL Rookie of the Year (2000) and later capture AFL Offensive Player of the Year (2003).
Pick Six
The Force defense has returned five interceptions for touchdowns through Week 10. The five interceptions returned for touchdowns is a franchise record for a single season. The previous mark was four in a single season. The AFL single season record is seven, which has been accomplished three times (last time: San Jose, 2003).
DS Chris Brown has recorded four interceptions on the year, including three straight returned for a touchdown. In Week 1, DS Nate Coggins and WR/DB Nick Ward returned interceptions for touchdowns in a 48-31 win over Orlando.
