Flint Generals News Release


Player Notes: Mike Kinnie has scored a point in his last nine games equaling the longest point scoring streak of the season for the Generals, Jeff Zehr also had a nine game point scoring streak...Five players have current point scoring streaks of three games or more, Kinnie (9 games), Bobby Reynolds (7 games), Jan Jas (4 games), Gerard Miller (3 games) and Martin Ondrej (3 games)...Kinnie and Reynolds also have the longest current point scoring streaks in the league...Shawn Snider is 19th in the league in scoring with 59 points, Reynolds is tied for 20th with 56 points.

Team Notes: With a win on Saturday night, coupled with an Elmira loss, the Generals clinched a playoff berth for the first time in three seasons...The Generals are the sixth team to qualify for the UHL post season with two more spots to be filled...The Generals have moved back into second in the league in power play percentage at 18.6%, and still lead the league in power play goals for with 93.

Wednesday, March 21 Fort Wayne @ Flint Postponed

The Generals had to reschedule the game against Fort Wayne until Wednesday, March 28 due to a conflict with Perani Arena. All tickets that have been purchased for the game originally scheduled for March 21 will be honored for the game on March 28.

Friday, March 23 Muskegon 4 @ Flint 5

This was the fifth and final game of the regular season between these teams in Flint. The Generals were trying for their first home win against the Fury, going 0-4-0 in the first four games. John Osborne gave the Generals a 1-0 lead at 3:49 of the first period with Tyson Turgeon assisting. The Generals increased the lead to 2-0 at 7:07 on a Shawn Snider goal from Jeff Zehr and Mike Kinnie. The Fury cut the lead to 2-1 on a Todd Robinson power play goal at 1:21 of the second period. The Generals answered with three straight goals to take a 5-1 lead. Jan Jas scored at 2:46 from Bobby Reynolds and Martin Ondrej. Gerard Miller scored a power play goal at 6:24 and Kinnie scored at 7:30. Robinson scored his second of the game for Muskegon at 19:25 to end the scoring in the second period. Robinson completed his hat trick at 12:37 of the third period with a power play goal. Philippe Plante added a goal at 15:37 to end the scoring. Jason Muzzatti made 31 saves on 35 shots for the win.

Saturday, March 24 Quad City 2 @ Flint 5

The Generals entered this game 0-5-0 against the Mallards this season, 0-1-0 at home. A Flint win and an Elmira loss would clinch a playoff berth for the Generals. Mike Kinnie gave the Generals a 1-0 lead with a power play goal at 5:04 of the first period. Martin Ondrej and Gerard Miller assisted on the goal. Quad City tied the game with a power play goal at 12:36 to end the scoring in the first period. The Generals scored three second period goals to take a 4-1 lead after two periods of play. Tyson Turgeon scored two power play goals in the period. His first goal was at 1:30 from Jason Selleke and Jeff Zehr. Turgeon's second goal was at 9:07 from Jan Jas and Shaun Fisher. Selleke added a shorthanded goal at 14:22 from Bobby Reynolds. The Generals went up 5-1 on a Selleke power play goal at 4:36 of the second period. Don Parsons ended the scoring with a goal at 19>02 of the third period. The goal moved Parsons into first place alone for most professional goals scored for an American born player, passing Joe Mullen. Bryan Worosz made 26 saves on 28 shots for the playoff clinching win.

PREVIEW OF UPCOMING GENERALS GAMES March 26 - April 1

Wednesday, March 28 Fort Wayne @ Flint 7:15p.m.

This game was originally scheduled on March 21 and was moved to March 28 due to a scheduling conflict with Perani Arena. All tickets previously purchased for the game on the 21st will be honored for this game. This will be the final meeting between these teams for the regular season in Flint. The first three games in Flint this season all went to a shootout with Fort Wayne winning all three games.

Friday, March 30 Flint @ Fort Wayne 8:00p.m.

This will be the final meeting of the regular season between the Generals and the Komets. The Generals entered the week 1-1-3 against the Komets, 1-1-0 in Fort Wayne.

Saturday, March 31 Flint @ Port Huron 7:30p.m.

The Generals travel to Port Huron for the final regular season meeting between these teams. The Generals are 6-2-2 against the Flags this season, 2-1-1 in Port Huron. Port Huron has won the last two meetings, both in a shootout.

Generals Player of the Week:

The Generals Player of the Week is Mike Kinnie. Kinnie had three points in two games last week on two goals and one assist. He also played at a +2 rating. He also extended his point scoring streak to nine games.

Generals Goaltender of the Week:

The Generals Goaltender of the Week is Bryan Worosz. Worosz went 1-0-0 in one game last week. He made 26 saves on 28 shots for a .929 save percentage and had a 2.00 goals against average. His win clinched a playoff berth for the Generals.
