
Generals Take Series Finale from M-Braves on Saturday

PEARL, MS - The Jackson (TN) Generals (4-6, 43-37) exacted revenge on the Mississippi Braves (6-4, 39-40) on Saturday night at Trustmark Park with a 7-3 victory after being no-hit by the home club the night before. The M-Braves settled for taking three of five in the series and are 6-4 to begin the second half of the season.
The Generals jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead against M-Braves starter Kyle Muller (L, 5-5) in the first inning. Ben Deluzio led off with a bloop double and then scored on a single by the next batter, Jamie Westbrook. The 21-year-old left-hander got back on track after the run scored by retiring eight-straight Jackson hitters.
Muller began Mississippi's third-inning rally by reaching on an E5. Riley Unroe singled to put two on base, and Tyler Neslony brought home Muller with a single to tie the game at 1-1. Ryan Casteel bounced out to third scoring Unroe. giving the M-Braves a 2-1 lead. William Contreras capped the inning with a single scoring Neslony, and it was 3-1.
The first four Jackson batters reached to begin the fifth inning. Ryan Grotjohn hit a two-run single tying the game at 3-3, and then pitcher Justin Donatella (W, 4-1) brought in the go-ahead run with a double down the right-field line.
The Generals added two more runs in the seventh inning on a two-run double by Deluzio. Muller exited the game in the seventh inning, down 6-3, after 6.1 innings of six-run baseball, eight hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
The Braves out-hit Jackson 11-10 with Neslony leading the way with a season-high 4-for-5 night at the plate. Unroe ended the game 3-for-5, and Cristian Pache recorded his second straight two-hit game, going 2-for-5. Pache has 25 multi-hit games this season.
The M-Braves hit the road for a four-game series at Pensacola beginning on Sunday evening at Blue Wahoos Stadium. LHP Tucker Davidson (3-4, 1.48) will make the start for the Braves against RHP Andro Cutura (1-3, 4.42). First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 pm with coverage beginning at 4:50 pm on 103.9 WYAB, TuneIn Radio and MiLB.tv (subscription required).
The Braves return to Trustmark Park for a six-game series against the Biloxi Shuckers and Independence Day Celebration.
