June 27, 2012 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain)
Wilson Tobs News Release

PETERSBURG, V.A - The Petersburg Generals scored three runs in the third inning on Wednesday afternoon to defeat the visiting Wilson Tobs 4-1 at the Petersburg Sports Complex.

Petersburg (13-13) was the first to scratch on Wednesday afternoon as they plated three runs in the last of the third inning against Clay Smith (L 0-3). Nolan Woody began the inning with a single and scored two batters later on a Jake Yacinich single. Ryan Hickey and Dillon Vitale also contributed to the Generals cause in the third by driving in a run.

Wilson (8-18) could not solve the puzzle that was Alex Caravella (W 3-0) as the left-hander worked eight innings while scattering five hits and fanning seven.

Leading by three runs in the eighth, Petersburg added an insurance run as Hickey walked to begin the inning against Wilson reliever Demetrus Ingram and scored later in the frame on a groundout for a four-run advantage.

In the ninth, Wilson plated its only run of the game when Joe Costigan came up as a pinch-hitter and drove in Andrew Istler who walked earlier in the frame to make it 4-1 which proved to be the final margin.

The Tobs will return to Historic Fleming Stadium on Thursday night at 7:05 when they host the Petersburg Generals.

The Wilson Tobs are a proud member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league.
