LAST GAME: Jackson, Tenn. - The Jackson Generals, the Double-A affiliate of Major League Baseball's Arizona Diamondbacks, used a first-inning surge to beat Montgomery 3-2 on Tuesday night, holding off the Biscuits to gain a 2-1 series lead. The win for the Generals (45-38) at The Ballpark at Jackson is their sixth against Montgomery (50-33) this season in eight meetings.

TODAY'S PITCHING MATCHUP: Since arriving in Jackson in 2017, Joel Payamps has had a few moments of brilliance, and one of them came last Thursday. Pitching the first half of a double-header, Payamps fired his second complete-game shutout as a General (and first since 2017), holding Mississippi to one hit with one walk while striking out nine batters over seven innings. Payamps will try to keep that roll going against Montgomery's Kenny Rosenberg, who has only lost once this season. Rosenberg took no decision in his previous outing against Jackson on May 25, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out eight men in five innings.

MAN IN THE MOMENT: With a two-out, three-run double in the first inning of July 2nd's game against Montgomery, Jazz Chisholm posted his team-leading 13th multi-RBI game of the year. Despite hitting just .189 on the season, Chisholm is batting .262 when the score is tied, one of the top 4 marks on the Jackson roster.
