Generals Announce Season Opening Roster

October 16, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Greensboro Generals News Release

Greensboro, NC – The puck hits the ice for the opening of the 2003-04 season tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. at the Greensboro Coliseum. When it slaps, the Greensboro Generals look to defend a 42-21-9 record that earned a second place finish in the Northeast Division, trailing only the Kelly Cup Champion Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies.

The fight for the team's first ever division championship will begin against a familiar foe for Greensboro Head Coach/General Manager Rick Adduono as he faces his former team in the South Carolina Stingrays. The opening day roster - along with the announcement of the team's 2003-04 Captain (Mark Turner) and Assistant Captains (Geno Parrish, Kurt Drummond), - was made last night at the Coliseum's "Meet the Generals" function for season ticket holders and media. The team completed the roster by signing center's Alex Andreyev and Bryson Busniuk; defensemen Kevin Grimes, Derrick Byfuglien, and Tom Reimann; forward Erik Wendell; right winger's Joe Gerbe, Chester Gallant, Pete Gardiner; and netminder Martin Kresac.

The Generals will play in the expanded ECHL's Eastern Conference in the newly aligned Southern Division along with Augusta, Charlotte, Columbia, Florence, Florida, Greenville, Gwinnett, Roanoke and South Carolina. Greensboro will open the year with back-to-back home games. The home opener is against the South Carolina Stingrays on October 17th at 7:30 PM. Next up is the newly formed Texas Wildcatters who visit the Greensboro Coliseum for the first time on October 23rd at 7:30 PM.

Individual tickets for all Greensboro Generals 2003-04 home games are on sale now. Tickets may be purchased at the Coliseum advance box office, all participating Triad area Lowes Foods locations, on-line at WWW.TICKETS.COM and by calling toll free (888) 397-3100.
