
Generals Announce Roster Moves

JACKSON, TENN. - The Seattle Mariners have announced the following roster moves that affect the Generals roster. RHP David Colvin has been placed on the 7-day DL, OF Nate Melendres has been activated from 7-day DL, OF Jabari Blash has been promoted to AAA Tacoma and C Manny Piña has been added from AAA Tacoma.

OF Nate Melendres
Colvin, 24, has appeared in 7 games this season for the Generals posting no record and a 1.76 ERA, with 2 saves. Opponents are batting .222 against the Mill Valley, CA native. He was selected by the Mariners in 27th round of the 2011 draft out of Pamona-Pitzer College.
Blash, 24, played in all 25 games this season batting .262 while ranking T-1st in the Southern League in home runs (5), T-2nd in RBI (20), 1st in runs scored (19), and 1st in walks (22). In 54 Jackson games dating back to August 3, 2013 Blash batted .287 with 14 home runs, 9 doubles, 41 RBI, 32 runs scored and held a .430 OBP. Blash is a native of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands and was Seattle's 8th round draft pick in the 2010 draft out of Miami-Dade Community College (FL).
Piña, 26, joins the Generals from Tacoma where he played in 4 games after being activated from Jackson's DL and promoted to Tacoma on April 15th. In those 4 games Piña batted .214 (3-for-14) with 1 double and 3 RBI. He recorded an RBI in 3 straight games from April 18-25 with Tacoma. Piña was signed by Seattle as a minor league free agent on Dec. 12, 2013 and was originally signed by Texas as a non-drafted international free agent on Sept. 30, 2004. In 2013 he combined to appear in 76 games behind the dish with the AA NW Arkansas and AAA Omaha in the Kansas City organization and threw out 32-of-79 attempted base stealers.
Melendres, 23, has been activated from the DL and has recovered from a back strain. This season, in 13 games is batting .333 (14x42) with 3 doubles, 1 triple and 4 RBI. He hit safely in 8 of 13 games to start the 2014 season. Melendres was the Mariners 17th round selection in the 2011 draft out of Miami (FL).
The Generals roster stands at 25 active players with 2 on the disabled list.
