Generals Announce European Import Draft Selection

Oshawa, Ontario - June 28th, 2006 (Generals Hockey Inc.) - The Oshawa Generals announced today that they have acquired right-shot, forward Ziga Pance, with the 24th selection in the 2006 Canadian Hockey League European Import Draft.

Pance, who turned 17 on January 1st is a native of Ljubljana, Slovenia. At the age of 16, he became the youngest player in the history of the International Hockey League when he made his debut with the senior team in Olimpija. In 22 games with the ZM Olimpija of the IHL, Ziga recorded four assists and his plus/minus was +6. As well, he played 29 games with HS Olimpija of the Slovenia League where he had 17 goals, 6 assists, seventy minutes in penalites and a plus/minus of +3. Ziga was also a member of the 2006 U-18 Hungarian team where in 5 games he had 2 goals.

"The report on Ziga is that he is a fast, skilled winger who is not afraid to throw his body around," said Brad Selwood, General Manager of the Oshawa Generals. "He's another example of the kind of player that we are building around, young and aggressive."
