
Gems Roll 9-2 As Buckles Wins Second Straight Start Over Kitsap

Klamath Falls, OR: Cam Newell (UC Santa Barbara) banged out four hits for the second straight game and Nick Fisher's (Linfield College) second home run in two games and sixth of the year propelled the Gems to a 9-2 victory over Kitsap on Saturday night at Kiger Stadium. The Gems outhit Kitsap 14 to 5 in the first of a three game series.
Ian Buckles (George Fox University) won his second straight start over Kitsap with a five hit performance and improved to 5-2 on the year for the Gems, who gained a game on Medford in the battle for third place in the South Division. Kitsap lost their second straight to the Gems, falling to 16-30 and remain in sixth place in the South Division as T.J.Murphy (Grambling State) moved to 4-2 in his sixth start of the year.
Gems next home game is Sunday, August 4th vs. the Kitsap Bluejackets. Sunday's promotion: Senior and Kids Club Sundays-Seniors get a $1 ticket discount and Tater Tot members get in for free!
