
Gary Payton II Earns NBA Call-Up with Washington Wizards

EL SEGUNDO - The Washington Wizards have signed South Bay Lakers guard Gary Payton II, it was announced today.
In 16 games (15 starts) with South Bay this season, Payton II averaged 21.4 points (.573 FG%), 9.5 rebounds, 6.8 assists, a league-leading 3.2 steals and 1.1 blocks in 32.4 minutes per game. He scored in double figures in every game this season, including nine games with 20+ and three 30-point contests. Payton II tallied 13 double-doubles with South Bay and was named NBA G League Player of the Week on 12/16 after averaging 30.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 10.0 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.3 blocks in three South Bay games.
Payton II has appeared in 32 NBA games (six starts) with the Bucks, Lakers and Wizards, averaging 3.1 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 10.5 minutes.
The call-up marks the second of the year for South Bay and the 35th in team history.
