Oklahoma City Blue News Release
LAS VEGAS - The Oklahoma City Blue (5-11) fell to the Westchester Knicks (7-9), 100-89, in its final game of the 2019 MGM Resorts NBA G League Winter Showcase.
Oklahoma City held a two-point lead at halftime but was outscored by 10 points in the third quarter. After the Blue cut the deficit to four points on a layup from DeVaughn Akoon-Purcell early in the fourth quarter, the Knicks went on a 10-0 run that put the game out of reach for the Blue.
"We played well enough defensively to win the game and we're pleased with the steps we've made on that end of the floor over the last few games," Head Coach Grant Gibbs said. "We just couldn't get enough going on offense and in terms of shot making to stay in the game. Credit Westchester defensively for making things difficult."
Two-way players Luguentz Dort and Kevin Hervey led the way for Oklahoma City with 18 points apiece. Dort also tallied three assists and three rebounds while Hervey narrowly missed a double-double with nine rebounds and two assists.
Akoon-Purcell contributed nine points and a career-high 10 rebounds. Devon Hall scored 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting to go along with seven rebounds.
The two teams pulled even in assists, each dishing 18, with Thunder assignment player Justin Patton handing out a team-high-tying five assists. Patton added seven points, five rebounds and two blocks.
Westchester was led by 21 points apiece from Ignas Brazdeikis and JJ Moore.
Following the holiday, Oklahoma City will face the Agua Caliente Clippers on Friday, Dec. 27 at 7 p.m. at Cox Convention Center.
