Mavs Minutes

A Must-Win

Tonight's game is critical for both Kansas City and Indy. The Fuel own the tie break by virtue of more regulation and overtime wins, and the teams are tied just one point back of Kalamazoo entering tonight's game. Following tonight's contest the Mavericks have only two games remaining (both on the road) while Indyand Kalamazoo both have three left.

Robertson's Hat Trick

Matt Robertson led the way in last night's game with his first-career hat trick, scoring three times on four shots. The feat was the first hat trick this year for the Mavericks by a player not named Shawn Pauly, who recorded each of the team's first two of the season. The effort moved Robertson into a tie with Pauly for the team lead in goals on the year with 24.

VanWormer's Play

Jared VanWormer now leads the ECHL with 14 power play goals following last night's lamp lighter. The rookie also eclipsed the 40-point mark, moving up to third on the team with 31 on the season. VanWormer has been a big reason the Mavericks have been able to maintain a strong position in the playoff discussion, tallying 14 points in the last eight games.

Bouncing Back

Over the last month, the Mavs have played four games following regulation losses. In those games, Kansas City has outscored opponents by a collective score of 23-6. The resilience has been a key factor in Kansas City's resurgence in the standings since a February skid.

Home Sweet Home

Despite a slow start to the season at home, the Mavericks have made themselves comfortable at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena, entering tonight's game winners of seven of the last eight home contests. The Mavs are now 18-15-0-2 on home ice despite starting the season 4-8-0-1.
