LINCOLN (21-12-2-2)
The Stars are 7-1-1-1 in their last ten games and are coming off an impressive victory over the Sioux City Musketeers last night at Tyson Events Center. After falling behind 2-0 early, Lincoln rallied for four unanswered goals, picking up their 21st win of the year. Kaidan Mbereko was tremendous on Friday, stopping 36 shots and holding the Musketeers at bay when they were all over the Stars in the first half of the game.
Luke Johnson scored two power-play goals and Dashel Oliver scored the game-winning goal 3:42 into the third period. Antonio Fernandez also chipped in on the offense, tying the game in the middle frame. Mason Marcellus and Dalton Norris each had two assists.
OMAHA (14-7-2-1)
Omaha had last night off as tonight's game marks their first of the weekend. Their last time out, they beat the Stars 4-3 in a shootout on Sunday afternoon at Liberty First Credit Union Arena.
Riley Rosenthal scored his first career USHL goal to get things started while Cade Ahrenholz added a goal in the second period, giving the Lancers a 2-0 lead. Garrett Wright also scored in regulation before the Stars forced overtime thanks to two third-period tallies.
Tomas Trunda scored the lone goal in the shootout in the bottom of the fourth round. Thomas Heaney improved to 5-0 on the season after stopping 28 shots in regulation/overtime and all four shots in the shootout. Michael Cameron had two assists in the win for Omaha.
THINGS TO WATCH FOR:
Through four games this season between the two clubs, three of them have been decided by one goal and two have gone beyond regulation ... Marcellus and Aidan Thompson each have four-game point streaks heading into tonight's game ... Norris has three points in his last two contests ... Fernandez has goals in back-to-back games ... Mbereko is 4-0-1 in his last five starts ... Cameron Whitehead is 3-1-1 in his previous five outings ... Garrett Wright has three points in his last two ... Chris Hedden is riding a four-game point streak for the Lancers ... Kevin Pasche is 1-1-1 against the Stars this season.
