Madison Capitols News Release

The Madison Capitols were one goal away from pulling even with the Muskegon Lumberjacks but couldn't quite net the equalizer and fall 4-3 in tonight's series finale.

Trying to dig themselves out of a three goal deficit entering the 3rd period, Madison would go on to net the only goals of the frame.

Jake Dunlap cut the Lumberjack lead to 4-2 when he went coast-to-coast and fired home his 15th goal of the season, 2:45 into the 3rd period. Dunlap is tied for the team lead in goals with Luke Mittelstadt and Kyle Kukkonen. With 5:00 to play in regulation, Matthew McGroarty buried the Caps third goal of the game off a gorgeous passing play from Brendan Lamb and Michael Quinn.

The Capitols threw 41 shots on net this evening, a good chunk of those came on the power play. Madison went 1-for-5 with the man advantage this evening.

The Caps return to action Thursday, February 17th when they open up their first of three games next weekend.
