Gameday Preview: Tri-City Battles Madison in Final Game of Weekend

Middleton, WI. - The Tri-City Storm will face off against the Madison Capitols tonight at the Bob Suter Capitol Ice Arena in Middleton, WI to complete a three-game week on the road. Tonight's matchup between the Storm and Capitols will also be the final game in the two game season series. Tri-City won the only previous matchup by a final score of 2-1 on September 28th at the 2018 USHL Fall Classic. The Storm defeated Team USA last night at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, MI by a final score of 8-2.

Tri-City (22-6-1-1) enters tonight's game as the 1st place team in the Western Conference standings with 46 points. With a win tonight and a Muskegon loss in Cedar Rapids, Tri-City can take control of 1st place in the USHL league standings for the first time all season. The Storm's eight goals scored in last night's game against Team USA set a new season high for most goals scored in a single game by Tri-City this season. Connor McMenamin, and Colton Kalezic each netted two goals, and Ronnie Attard, Colby Ambrosio, Michael Colella, and Joe Molenaar also scored in last night's Storm win. Isaiah Saville made 29 saves on 31 shots to record the win in net. With last night's victory, Tri-City has now picked up points in the standings in each of its last five games and is 7-2-0-1 over the last ten.

Madison (6-17-2-2-) seeks to snap an eight-game winless streak in tonight's game. The Capitols are 2-7-1-1 on home ice this season and enter tonight's game as the last place team in the USHL league standings with 16 points. Madison's 48 goals sored this season are the least of any USHL team. Tri-City has allowed the least amount of goals in the league this year with 68. Goaltender Joseph Lamoreaux has picked up 5 of Madison's 6 wins in goal this season. Chase Brand and Chaz Smedsrud lead the Capitols offense with 6 goals scored this year, and newly acquired defenseman Kalle Eriksson, formerly of the Omaha Lancers, is the team's assist leader with 13.
