Gameday Preview: Storm Travel to Fargo for Weekend Series vs. Force

Fargo, ND. - The Tri-City Storm battle the Fargo Force tonight at Scheels Arena in Fargo, ND for the first game of a two-game weekend against the defending Clark Cup Champions. Last weekend at the Viaero Center in Kearney, the Storm and the Force split a two-game series with each team recording a 4-2 win. The two games this weekend in Fargo will be the final two games of the four game regular season series. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm.

Tri-City (18-5-1-0) has won eight of its last nine games and enters tonight's game in Fargo as the 1st place team in the Western Conference standings. The Storm currently hold a three-point lead over the Waterloo Black Hawks, and hit the ice tonight following a 5-3 defeat of the Lincoln Stars on Thursday at the Viaero Center. Joe Molenaar and Connor McMenamin each netted two goals in Tri-City's win. Joe Berg also scored his 2nd goal of the season and Jake Barczewski stopped a season high 40 shots to give the Storm its 18th win through the first 24 games of the regular season. Tri-City has allowed only 52 goals this season, the least of any team in the USHL. Tri-City's last trip to Scheels Arena in Fargo ended with back to back losses to the Force in the opening round of the 2018 Clark Cup Playoffs. Last season, Tri-City capped off the regular season series against Fargo with a 2-1 overtime win on February 24th at Scheels Arena. In the win over Lincoln earlier this week, Tri-City improved to 15-5-1-0 against Western Conference competition this season.

Fargo (13-8-1-2) enters tonight's home against the Storm as the 5th place team in the Western Conference standings. Like Tri-City, Fargo also played a midweek game following last weekend's two game series at the Viaero Center. Fargo defeated the Sioux City Musketeers at the Tyson Evens Center in Sioux City, IA by a final score of 4-2 on Tuesday night. The Force have played its last seven games on the road and has gone 5-1-1-0 over that stretch. Tonight's game will mark the beginning of a seven game homestand for the Force, who will be playing a game at Scheels Arena tonight for the first time since a November 21st defeat of the Des Moines Buccaneers.

Today's game is set to begin at 7:05pm CT, and will be streamed live on HockeyTV, and Storm Radio. HockeyTV is a subscription based service that carries all Storm home and away games throughout the season.
