NEWS & NOTES:

Last Game:. The Lethbridge Hurricanes swept the Brandon Wheat Kings in their two game set last weekend. The Wheat Kings were able to generate offense in the late stages but unfortunately the multi goal cushions the Hurricanes held after 40 minutes would give them the insurance to escape both games with victories. Positives to take out of the games for the Wheat Kings was on the powerplay where they were able to score 5 powerplay goals on 11 attempts. They were also able to score 3 goals in the third period of last Saturday's game, something they haven't been able to do all season long.

Dec 2nd VS Prince Albert: The Wheat Kings host the Prince Albert Raiders for the first time this season. The Raiders came into this season as sellers with big blue liner Nolan Allen getting dealt to the Seattle Thunderbirds in a package that brought Manitoba native Brayden Dube, forward Gabe Ludwig and Easton Kovacs as well as a handful of draft picks. The Wheat Kings are looking to get back on track after losing 12 of their last 14. Their new Head Coach Marty Murray is looking to generate a boost to a team that still hasn't been able to score 5 or more goals in a single game this season. One player who could make his return to the lineup is forward Rylen Roersma. The Lethbridge native has been out for a couple weeks with an upper body injury he suffered on November 18th in Edmonton. The Raiders come into this game winning 6 of their past 8 games. 4 of those victories have come with their new look roster which is expected to be on display Friday night in Brandon.

Murray's Law: Friday night will also be the debut of Marty Murray behind the bench as Head Coach. Murray joined the Wheat Kings as General Manager back in September and will replace former bench boss Don MacGillivray. The Lyleton, MB native spent 4 seasons with the Wheat Kings as a player, two of them as team Captain. Murray had a long pro career playing both in North America and overseas with clubs like the Calgary Flames, Philadelphia Flyers, Carolina Hurricanes and Los Angeles Kings. Marty Murray also has over 10 years of coaching experience with the NAHL's Minot Minotauros and the USHL's Sioux Falls Stampede.

100 point milestone: Forward Nate Danielson is just 1 point away from 100 career WHL points.
