The Skyforce makes their annual trip to Des Moines to face the Iowa Wolves after splitting a two-game series with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Tuesday and Thursday.
Sioux Falls overcame a second half deficit to defeat the Rio Grande Valley Vipers 108-99 on Thursday evening from the Sanford Pentagon.
Justin Champagnie led Sioux Falls (11-3) with 32 points on 11-19 FGA, 11 rebounds, six assists and three steals, as Jamaree Bouyea chipped in 24 points on 7-13 FGA, six assists and six steals. Caleb Daniels scored 16 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter, as it helped the Skyforce slash a 14-point second half Vipers' lead.
Iowa and Sioux Falls split the two-game series during the Showcase Cup at the Sanford Pentagon. The Force defeated the Wolves 102-97 on 11/25 and were defeated 103-86 on 11/26.
The Wolves come into the game with the Force losers of their last three games and six-of-seven. G League Ignite defeated them on 1/31 for their first regular season victory of the season.
Timberwolves assignee Leonard Miller leads the team with 22.1 points in 11 appearances, while fellow assignee Josh Minott averages 21.9 points per game. DJ Carter produces 19.2 points per game to round out top scorers for Iowa.
Both teams meet again on Tuesday at 10:30AM CST from Wells Fargo Arena. The Skyforce returns home next weekend for a back-to-back with the Rip City Remix, the new NBA G League affiliate of the Portland Trail Blazers. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 PM CST next Friday and Saturday from the Sanford Pentagon.
MAN(MAN) OF THE MONTH
- He led the team with 25.7 points on 56.5 percent shooting (46.2 percent from beyond the arc), 5.3 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 1.5 steals per 39.9 minutes in 10 starts during January.
-Williams broke Sioux Falls' franchise record for points in a game, with 55 points on 21-30 FGA, while adding eight rebounds and eight assists on Jan. 7 against Salt Lake City. He compiled back-to-back NBA G League Player of the Week awards from Jan. 2-7 and Jan. 8-13 and had two 20-plus-point double doubles to help lead the Skyforce to a 9-0 start to the regular season.
- He ranked second in the NBA G League in total points (257), third in field goal makes (96) and his 25.7 points per game ranked first in the league for players that have played in five-plus games in the month.
OLIN'S DEBUT
- The Skyforce acquired NBA G League veteran guard Olin Carter III on Friday in exchange for Jon Elmore. Carter has played parts of three seasons with the Texas Legends, Austin Spurs and Cleveland Charge.
- In 23 total games for the Charge between the Showcase Cup and regular reason, he has averaged 7.0 points, 1.6 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 0.5 steals per 14.7 minutes a game.
FAST PACED FORCE
- The Sioux Falls Skyforce have the #1 scoring offense in the entire G League, averaging 120.5 points per game and featured four-of-five starters on Tuesday that averaged 20+ points per game.
