COLLEGE PARK, Ga. - On Friday morning, the College Park Skyhawks hosted a basketball clinic for approximately 60 girls at West Clayton Elementary School to celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day.

Aimed to empower young girls through the sport of basketball, the group was led by College Park Skyhawks Assistant Coach Madeline Sulka and 13 women volunteers from the Atlanta Hawks and College Park Skyhawks organizations.

"It's such an amazing feeling to be able to give back to the community and see yourself in the young girls" said Skyhawks Assistant Coach Madeline Sulka. "I grew up loving and playing the sport my entire life, so I know the joy the game always brought me, and I loved seeing that joy in the kids here today."

National Girls and Women in Sports Day is a day to acknowledge the accomplishments of female athletes, recognize the influence of sports participation for women and girls and honor the progress and continuing struggle for equality for women in sports.

All 60 girls who participated were also provided two tickets to the next Skyhawks home game, taking place on Saturday, Feb 10th at 6:30 p.m. against the Capital City Go-Go (8-4).
