The Sioux Falls Skyforce looks to finish up play before all-star break with a four-game winning streak and wins in six of their last seven games.
In order to do such, they will have to defeat the Texas Legends, who are one-of-two Western Conference teams to earn a victory over Sioux Falls during the regular season. The contest tonight is a make-up game from Jan. 15.
Texas out-dueled Sioux Falls 129-117 on Jan. 17, as Justin Jackson scored 37 points. The Force was led by HEAT two-way players Alondes Williams and Jamal Cain, who combined for 53 points.
The Skyforce defeated the Oklahoma City Blue 122-103 last night with eight players , as four of them netted 19-plus points, and the team moved to 7-0 in back to backs during the regular season. The victory also gave them a two-game lead atop of the Western Conference standings over Rio Grande Valley (12-5), as they play the Austin Spurs (10-8) tonight.
Caleb Daniels secured a career-high 26 points on 10-18 FGA (6-9 3PA). Justin Champagnie added 24 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and five steals. Jamaree Bouyea posted 29 points, eight rebounds and 12 assists, while Josh Christopher added 19 points and nine assists in his first start with Sioux Falls. Malik Williams provided a career-high 21 rebounds to go along with 11 points.
Sioux Falls tied a season-high with 60 rebounds last night and moves to 7-0 between the Showcase Cup and regular season when having 55-plus rebounds.
The Force will enjoy a much needed six-day break and resumes play on Feb. 22, as they face the South Bay Lakers (10-6), who are fourth in the West. It will be an eight-day, four game LA trip, with two against the Lakers and Ontario Clippers (9-11).
DANIELS DOES IT
- After averaging just 7.7 points per game in January, Caleb Daniels has seen an uptick in performance. He's averaging 13.5 points on 51.7 FG% this month (51.5 3P%) and 3.8 rebounds per game. He has had 19+ points in three-of-six outings in February.
- Between the Showcase Cup and regular season, Sioux Falls 8-1 when he starts.
DEFENSIVE STRETCH
- In the last four games, the Skyforce defense is giving up just 104.8 points per game (6th in the G League). Teams are shooting 42.9 FG% (5th) and just 25.5 3P% (1st). The team has a 98.4 defensive rating (2nd) and 54.8 rebounds (2nd).
