Madison Mallards News Release
MADISON, WI - June 23, 2011. The Madison Mallards return to the "Duck Pond" Thursday as the team gets set to take on the La Crosse Loggers at 7:05 p.m.
The Mallards' will look to get things going after being shutout a night ago in a six-inning game at Waterloo.
Infielder Justin Scanlon (Michigan State) leads the way for Madison with a .393 batting average and a 13-game hitting streak. Over the last seven games, Jordan Owen (Tennessee - Martin), Nate Theunissen (Central Michigan), and Jake Page (Madison College) are all hitting over .400 and look to bring more runs to a team that has scored a combined total of six following the four games in which they scored more than ten runs.
On the hill for the Ducks will be Ryan Bores (Cuyahoga Community College). Bores is 1-1 on the season with a 3.38 ERA in 16 innings pitched. His lone win on the season came back in his first start, which was against La Crosse on June 4th. In the win, Bores went six total innings, allowed two runs on five hits, walked one and struck out two.
La Crosse's game Wednesday night in Battle Creek was postponed due to rain, and therefore, has not announced a starter.
Thursday's game will be game one of a three-game series against the Loggers, with games one and three being played in Madison.
