Iowa Barnstormers News Release
Des Moines, IA - The Iowa Barnstormers (1-2) hit the road for their Week 5 matchup versus the Nebraska Danger (3-0). Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. CDT on Friday, March 27 at Heartland Events Center in Grand Island, Nebraska. The game will be available live on WHO 1040 AM and online via IFLLive.tv.
Last week, the Iowa Barnstormers were held off by the Green Bay Blizzard 47-46. The old af2 rivalry began with an early score by the Barnstormers, but the Blizzard offense quickly pulled ahead. The back-and-forth battle came down to the final moments of the game when the Barnstormers were down by only one point. In scoring position, QB Robbie Nallenweg shot one in to the end zone with the intention of reaching WR Lemans Casimier, but was intercepted. The Blizzard had locked the scoreboard. Green Bay Blizzard 47, Iowa Barnstormers 46.
The Nebraska Danger continued their undefeated record with a 36-26 victory over the Wichita Falls Nighthawks in Week 3. Trailing 20-6 at halftime, the Nebraska team scored 30 points that the Nighthawks just couldn't match. The second win over Wichita Falls in eight days, the Danger advanced to their first 3-0 start in franchise history.
Likely to be leading the Barnstormers, Nallenweg currently sits second in the IFL in pass completion at 59.2%. Averaging just over two-hundred passing yards per game, Nallenweg has become an instrumental component of the Barnstormers offense. Iowa receiver Brady Roland also leads the League in several categories including reception yards (259) and average yards per game (86.3). Defensively, the Barnstormers have DB Torez Jones who leads the team in total tackles (17.5) and DL Sean Daniels who is the team's leader in sacks (3.0-23).
To watch on the Nebraska team will be quarterback Jameel Sewell who was named the IFL's Offensive Player of the Week in Week 2. The team's top two receivers include Troy Evans and Kayne Farquharson. Defensively, LB Pig Brown is ranked third in the League in total tackles (20.5) and is averaging 6.8 tackles per game.
The Barnstormers and Danger will meet once more in 2015 on April 18 in Des Moines, Iowa.
