
Axemen hit the road for the first time in 2015

Bemidji, MN - The Bemidji Axemen will be traveling to Green Bay this Sunday as they take on the Green Bay Blizzard for their first road game of the season. Kickoff will be at 3:00 at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Bemidji enters Sunday's game off of a come from behind, over time win versus the Billings Wolves which was also their first win of the season. The Axemen were led by special teams player of the week, Mulku Kalokoh, who rushed for 81 yards, two rushing touchdowns and one 51-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Kalokoh also had 152 all-purpose yards and leads the Indoor Football league with 27.2 yards per return.
Green Bay was also a part of a close victory as they edged the Iowa Barnstormers 47-46. The Blizzard were led by the IFL's offense player of the week, quarterback Donovan Porterie. Porterie was 21-33 for 230 passing yards with four touchdown passes, 28 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. Porterie is second in the IFL with 202.3 yards passing per game, third with 12 passing touchdowns, fifth in rushing yards per game with 36.3 and third in rushing touchdowns with four. Green Bay is 2-1 with wins over Iowa and Tri-Cities along with a loss to Nebraska. Green Bay boasts an offense that averages 50.0 points per game which is second in the league.
The 1-2 Bemidji squad will be looking for their second straight win after beating Billings on the leg of kicker Zach Pulkinen along with losses to Sioux Falls and Iowa. The Axemen are led in passing by Terrance Owens who averages 116 passing yards per game and has four touchdowns after missing one game this season. The Axemen rushing attack is spearheaded by Mulku Kalokoh who averages 27.3 yards per game and has two rushing touchdowns on the season. Kalokoh also averages 81.7 all-purpose yards per game by being a threat on special teams. The leading receiver for Bemidji is Josh Jarboe whho averages 57 receiving yards per game has thee receiving touchdowns. Bemidji's offense averages 61.0 rushing yards per game which is third in the league along with being third in the league with 15.0 yards per kickoff return.
In 2014 the Axemen and Blizzard played in four games in which the Axemen won three. Expect another close and exciting game between these two neighboring teams that know each other well.
