February 18, 2019 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Oshawa Generals News Release
The Generals return to home ice this afternoon for a Family Day matchup against the Sudbury Wolves. After extending their winning streak to six straight games with two wins south of the border this weekend against Flint and Saginaw, the Gens head into the contest with a 36-18-3-0 record on the season. Looking for their seventh victory in a row, the Gens will aim to take down the Wolves and grab another win in Oshawa this afternoon.
Tonight's game marks the second time the Gens will meet with the Sudbury Wolves this season. In the first game between the two teams, Oshawa came up short with a 5-2 loss on the road. Looking for redemption and to even up the season series, the Gens will have their sights set on shutting down the Wolves at home today.
Picking up at least one point in their last nine games, including wins in their last six, the Gens sit at 75 points in 57 games on the season. Their record has the team holding on to second place in their division behind the 67's and third place in the conference. Meanwhile, the Sudbury Wolves currently sit in second in the eastern conference due to leading the central division with a record of 35-17-2-1. With the Gens at 75 points and the Wolves at 73, Oshawa will look to increase their point lead over the eastern conference foes and continue to rack up the wins.
Two Gens forwards who had a big road trip to the States include Nando Eggenberger and Ty Tullio. Eggenberger opened the trip with a tally to mark his 19th goal of the season before putting on a first-star performance in Saginaw on Saturday after scoring 2 goals and adding an assist in a 5-1 victory. Tullio also had a strong offensive weekend, notching a goal of his own and adding 3 assists that helped lead to the stateside sweep. Coming off success on the road, look for the pair of forwards to enter this afternoon's contest with momentum.
Head to the Tribute Communities Centre this afternoon for the 2:05pm puck drop to watch the Gens as they take on the Sudbury Wolves! After today, the team will go on to play a weekend at home with a matchup against the Steelheads on Friday and the Spirit on Sunday.
