Oshawa Generals News Release

The Erie Otters come to Oshawa for their annual visit looking to take two points from your Oshawa Generals. Although they have a losing record in their last 7 games (3-0-1-3), they have picked up at least one point in the standings in each of those games. The Otters are tied for 2nd in the Western Conference - a win tonight would propel them into the top spot in the West.

Your Generals are looking to turn things around after dropping both matches last weekend. They started reversing that trend with a 4-3 win in North Bay last night in which they outshot the Battalion 35-24. Allan McShane recorded his 200th and 201st OHL points in that game.

Player to Watch; Oshawa David Jesus - Jesus is a 6-foot-3 defenseman who has picked up significant minutes on the Generals blueline this season. While he hasn't been prolific on the scoresheet - 1 goal and 1 assist in 21 games - his impact has been felt in other ways on the ice. Jesus is a plus-7 and has only ended a game as a minus player twice. Jesus was a 12th-round selection in the 2018 OHL draft.

Players to Watch; Erie Chad Yetman - Whitby-born Chad Yetman has brought his game to the next level this season. Through his first 3 OHL seasons, Yetman has seen his points-per-game rise from 0.29 to 0.84 to this season a 1.14. He's been more of a goal scorer this season with 15 goals through his first 21 bouts. Yetman has been a consistent scorer making his way onto the scoresheet in all but 4 games this season and is currently riding a 4-game point streak.

Jamie Drysdale - The Otters 1st round pick (4th overall) from 2018 has taken the reigns of this Otters blueline. After putting up an offensively strong rookie campaign with 40 points, Drysdale has upped his production with 24 points through his first 23 games. Drysdale was ranked in NHL Central Scouting's "November Players to Watch" list as an A-rated prospect - meaning he is projected to be a 1st round pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.

Notes from the week

The Generals remain in the Kia CHL Top 10 teams at the number 7 ranking.
