Tonight's Matchup:
Chicago put together one of their best performances of the season last night, shutting out the Cincinnati Cyclones 3-0. Chicago goaltender Peter Mannino sparkled in the win, turning aside all 24 shots sent his direction. The success of the special teams units determined the outcome, as Chicago finished 2-for-7 on the power play while holding Cincinnati to 0-for-5. Chicago capitalized on a five minute major penalty issued to RW Joe Devin in the period, and were able to kill off two separate 5-on-3 chances for Cincinnati, including 1:51 of 5-on-3 midway through the third period. The Express are 6-3-1-0 against the Cyclones this season.
Express Notes:
G Peter Mannino earned the second shutout in Express history. Both have come on home ice, with other being a 27 save performance by G Paul Dainton against Toledo on October 29... LW Maxime Gratchev made his Express debut last night. He earned an assist on Chicago's first goal... Chicago has still never lost in regulation on home ice, improving to 5-0-1 with last night's win.
