D Darcy Campbell grabbed the loose puck out of the scrum and backhanded it past Cyclones G Brian Foster to make the score 2-1. The goal was Campbell's third of the season and his 21st point on the campaign. Chicago held a 19-18 shot advantage through two.

RW Chaz Johnson evened the score with 7:18 left to play in the final period. After the Express killed a penalty late in the third and into overtime, eventually pushing the game into a shootout.
