Game Preview: Express at Cincinnati Tonight
March 21, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Chicago Express News Release
Preview: Chicago Express (29-25-7-4, 69pts) at Cincinnati Cyclones (30-26-2-7, 69 points)
When: Puck drops at 6:35 pm
Where: U.S. Bank Arena, Cincinnati, OH
Tonight's Matchup:
After playing three of their last four games against teams from outside of the North Division, the Express play each of their seven remaining regular season games against Northern foes. Chicago battled their way into a tie for the 8th and final playoff spot, currently also shared by the Reading Royals as well as tonight's opponent, the Cincinnati Cyclones. Both Chicago and Cincinnati own a game in hand on Reading, who is inactive today. Therefore, the winner of tonight's matchup will own sole possession of the final playoff spot. The Cyclones are looking to snap out of a skid in which they have lost six of their last seven games, all played away from home ice. Chicago was derailed from a three-game winning streak by the Trenton Titans on Saturday before earning a point on Sunday in a 5-4 overtime loss. The Express are 7-5-1 against Cincinnati this season, including a 2-4-0 record in games played at the U.S. Bank Arena.
Express Notes:
G Brooks Ostergard made his first professional start on Sunday... F Kyle Ostrow is expected to return to the Chicago lineup tonight. He last played on February 26, earning an assist against the Florida Everblades, and has since missed 10 straight games... The Express have scored on nine of their last 15 power plays (60%) dating back to Wednesday, March 14 against the Wheeling Nailers.
Recent Transactions:
F Kyle Ostrow was activated from the 3-day IR today... F Matt Gingera was released from his ATO yesterday... G Tom Schaul was released on Thursday... G Brooks Ostergard was signed on Thursday.
