Tonight...
The Blades and Wheaties return to Brandon for the back half of a home & home series. Brandon took the first meeting of the mini-series 5-1 on Wednesday night in Saskatoon. A win for the Blades would move them into a tie for 61 points with Brandon. It's the first stop of a short weekend road trip as the Blades visit the Swift Current Broncos tomorrow night.
It's an important game in the standings for both clubs as the East Division race continues to heat up. As of Friday, the top four teams in the East are spread by just six points.
Head to head...
The Blades are 2-1-0-1 against the Wheat Kings this season. Brandon leads the total goals for/against in the four game season series so far at 13-11. Ridly Greig is the top scorer in the series for Brandon with 4G-2A while four Blades are tied with 3 points each versus Brandon this year. Nolan Maier has played all four games in goal for the Blades; Jiri Patera is 2-1 between the pipes for the Wheaties. Nolan Kneen scored the lone goal for Saskatoon in Wednesday's meeting with the Wheat Kings.
Who to watch...
19-year-old import Martin Fasko-Rudas has 13 points (7G-6A) in 13 games since joining the Blades at the WHL Trade Deadline. Draft eligible Tristen Robins has eight points (3G-5A) in the Blades' last three games. Sophomore forward Kyle Crnkovic has 2G-10A in his last 8GP.
Up next...
The Blades visit the Swift Current Broncos on Saturday night before returning home for the annual Cameco Family Day Skate on Monday at the Meewasin Rink in downtown Saskatoon from 12:00pm - 3:00pm.
Next home action for the blue & gold goes next Saturday versus the Swift Current Broncos at 7:00pm.
