Iowa Barnstormers News Release
DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers (2-4) hit the road to take on the Sioux Falls Storm (6-0) on Saturday, April 25th. Kickoff is set for 7:05 p.m. CDT at the Denny Sanford PREMEIR Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The game will be available live on WHO 1040 AM and online via IFLLive.tv.
Last week, the Iowa Barnstormers hosted their second home game of the season versus the Nebraska Danger. Having difficulty scoring, the Barnstormers were stopped 33-66 by the Danger. Iowa consistently made their way down the field, but only converted two touchdowns and a field goal. Quarterback Robbie Nallenweg completed 25 of 42 passes for 189 yards and two touchdowns, including one on the ground. On defense, linebacker Javicz Jones collected six total tackles, including 1.5 tackles for a loss of four yards.
In Week 8 for the Sioux Falls Storm, the team defeated the Tri-Cities Fever 62-42. Despite being without the IFL's leading rusher, Troy Harrison, the Storm pulled ahead after holding the Fever from scoring any points in the third quarter. Storm quarterback Lorenzo Brown completed 12 or 18 passing attempts for 131 yards and six touchdowns, including three on the ground. Linebacker Tyler Knight tallied 11.5 total tackles, 8 solo and 7 assists.
Players to watch for the Barnstormers this week include Nallenweg and running back Robbie Rouse. Nallenweg leads the IFL in passing yards (1,383), pass attempts (219), and completions (131). Since joining the team in Week 7, Rouse has made an impact in terms of rushing, but also in the team's receiving game. For the Storm, former backup quarterback Lorenzo Brown has stepped up and started in the team's last two games. If he returns from injury, running back Tory Harrison will be a major factor on the Storm offense as the League's leader in rushing yards (455) and rushing touchdowns (14).
Saturday's matchup will be the first-ever meeting between the Iowa Barnstormers and the Sioux Falls Storm. The two teams will faceoff once again the following week when the Barnstormers host in Des Moines, Iowa.
