Bemidji's defense can't handle Sewell and the Nebraska offense

Grand Island, Neb. - The Nebraska Danger improved their record to 7-1 as they defeated the now 2-6 Bemidji Axemen 74-55. The Axemen introduce some new offensive players tonight that helped put up 55 points versus the number two defense in the IFL but the Axemen defense couldn't hold up.

The Danger were led on offense by Jameel Sewell who did damage in both the air and on the ground. Sewell was 12-24 for 120 passing yards and six touchdowns passes along with rushing for 71 yards on nine rushes and scrambling for one touchdown. Waymon James scored the other rushing touchdown while rushing for 17 yards. Troy Evans led Nebraska with six receptions for 67 yards and three touchdowns. Kayne Farquharson scored two receiving touchdowns on 15 yards. Isaiah Scott returned an interception for a 35-yard touchdown and the Danger defense forced two fumbles along with blocking one kick and one safety. Nebraska kicker Brendan Hanaphy was 2-3 including a 43-yard field goal.

The new look Bemidji offense put up 55 points on 325 total yards on the second ranked defense in the IFL. New Axemen quarterback Dante Perez had an impressive debut by completing 25 passes on 38 attempts for 274 yards and seven passing touchdowns. Perez also rushed for 29 yards on six attempts while starting running back Mulku Kalokoh had 28 yards on eight attempts and one touchdown. Another new addition to the team, wide receiver DJ Foster, brought in six passes for 53 yards and three touchdowns. Ryan Balentine who was back at wide receiver, brought in eight receptions for 87 yards and two touchdowns while Josh Jarboe also had 87 receiving yards on six receptions and brought in one touchdown. Middle linebacker Jory Johnson intercepted one pass for 16 yards while defensive back Larry Miller Jr. led the Axemen defense with 10 tackles.
