Game Preview - Ice Flyers Vs. Mississippi Surge

The Ice Flyers got back to their winning ways with a 4-2 victory in Biloxi over the Surge on Tuesday. Both teams will hit the ice tonight in the Hangar at 7:05 CT. Pensacola leads the season series against the Surge with a record of 4-1-1 while outscoring the Surge 22-17. Mississippi will be looking to get their first road win in Pensacola this season as they are 0-3 at the Hangar. The Ice Flyers will face off and work to improve their impressive home record of 11-4-0, and the Surge are wanting to draw closer to .500 on the road with their current road record of 6-9-1.

Fans are encouraged to bring a teddy bear to the game tonight for the Teddy Bear Toss after the Ice Flyers' score their first goal. All the stuff animals collected will be delivered by the Ice Flyers to the Sacred Heart Children's Hospital.

Team Scope:

PENSACOLA - Coming off of their 4-2 win on Tuesday, the Ice Flyers are looking to pick up another win and 2 more points in the standings. Pensacola currently sits in 4th place in the SPHL standings with a record of 17-12-2, good for 36 points. Adam Ward owns a record of 4-8-1, 4.11 goals against average, and a 0.857 save percentage while Jeff Rose has a total record of 4-6-1, a 4.39 GAA, and a 0.849 SV%. Jordan Chong leads the team in scoring with 31 points. Andrew Harrison, coming off of a 2-goal performance on Tuesday, now shares the team lead in goals scored with Matthew Robertson. Tyler Soehner continues to contribute on a nightly basis from the blue line and now has 21 assists and the team lead. Mike Carter leads the +/- category with a +8 rating.

Pensacola currently sits 3rd with a 18.95 powerplay percentage, and 4th in the SPHL with a 82.5% penalty kill percentage. They have also given up the second fewest powerplay against with only 21.

After this game, the Ice Flyers are done until they take on the Louisiana IceGators on Tuesday in Lafayette. They then head Fayetteville Thursday and then back to Huntsville for back to back games on Friday and Saturday.

MISSISSIPPI - The Surge will be looking for revenge in the Hangar after the Flyers beat them in Biloxi on Tuesday. Mississippi has a record of 13-15-2, good for 29 points and 7th place in the SPHL. The Surge relies on Keifer Smiley and Corey Milan in net. Smiley has an 8-5-2 record, 3.18 GAA, and a 0.887 SV% while Milan has a 4-6-2 total record, 3.96 GAA, and 0.856 SV%. Mark Versteeg-Lytwyn leads the team in points with 38, goals with 18, and assists with 20. Shawn Skelly has a +14 rating and leads the Surge in that category.

The Surge's powerplay is in the middle of the pack in 5th with a 18.06 powerplay percentage, and their penalty kill percentage is 78.85%.

After playing in the Hangar on Friday, the Surge return home and close out their weekend by taking on the Fayetteville FireAntz on Sunday.
